@70Kenny - The song is "When I'm Not Near the Girl That I Love", from "Finian's Rainbow". Jim Henson did a lot of collaborating with Raymond Scott (a bandleader & composer best known for composing the really cool backing music used in classic WB and "Ren & Stimpy" cartoons). However, Scott was also an electronics engineer, who invented amazing synthesizers. Whenever you hear synthesized tones on early "Sesame Street" segments, you're hearing Scott's work.
@jtomally9681 - Yes it is. This is the original ending, which a lot of kids thought showed the ball being killed in the grinder. So, after only airing a few times, the segment was pulled, and the ending was changed to the one with the 3 cherries dropping onto 3 sundaes.
I used to love this when I was was little. I hadn't seen it in almost thirty years, but I remembered it so well! I used to dream about having something like this in the house.
love it i saw this one all the time, prob depend what country your in. lol it's red crack!

Maybe this was shown more in Canada than in the US.... maybe that makes it rare; where you live!

@OofusTwillip I don't know what you're talking about because I saw this ending all the time and the three cherries ending I saw rarely.

I always hated it when the TV station went on stand by because something went wrong while Sesame Street was on.

Yeah isn't the sundaes version the rare one? I know I saw this version many times, and don't remember the sundaes.

This is the ending I saw as a kid, so I guess I got lucky. I used think how amazing it is that powder comes out.
