That's right. They used to think the Viceroy butterfly was a harmless mimic of the Monarch butterfly, but recently scientists found out it IS poisonous, and it is a type of mimicry where two poisonous species mimic each others' warning colors/ But then again I rarely see Viceroy butterflies (I mostly see Monarchs).
This reminds me of that apple tree and the frog and the scarest face with long nose! and creepy bag pipes and Irish music! Gives me nightmares for ions!! Does anyone remember that scary skit?
Also, does anyone remember a cartoon with a lady's profile and her nose, chin and hair would grow and her eye would move back and forth and they played this Creepy music?
Man, I' m just gettin xtremly scared just typing it!
I wonder who's voiceover for the caterpillar and butterfly?

If the bird said something, he or she might say "Curses, that butterfly fooled me big time!"
Sharptooth100 8 months ago
Well, the cataplillar DID say it was a magic TRICK. So I don't think anyone can really blame her for not giving that bird fair warning.

nobody's noticed the faint american flag on the bird's chest? y'all need to smoke more weed.

@bearswilleatme I see it and I don't even smoke pot haha!

Maybe the bird did not want to eat the butterfly because it's bright colors warned that it was poisonus.

@moatguy Like a monarch butterfly or a sunset moth, right?
wileyk209zback 2 years ago
Yeah and there are even some that look like poisonus ones but are harmless. I you're not got at defence sometimes you gotta fake it.

That bird must be thinking "what the heck just happened here?"

In real life, caterpillars shed their skins when they turn into chrysalids. Then the butterfly that hatches out must dry its wings before it can fly.

Gotta love John Korty's art style.BTW,would you happen to have any of the "Thelma Thumb" cartoons?
wattamack4 5 years ago
Is that the name of the animator? All this material on Sesame Street is anonymous---the only way you know is if you recognize an artist's style...
Marbles471 4 years ago
Yes that is the name of the animator and you can definetly tell that's John Korty because the animation is cut out animation which he uses.

oh i remember that..
