  • Time to say goodbye to this boat. I don't think they will ever raise the money to restore it and turn it into a cruise ship. If that was feasible, somebody would have purchased it and done so. I don't know if this will be able to compete with any of the modern ships as far as ammenities. This isn't a project for sentimental dreamers, and so far only minor work has been completed. It is a serious undertaking for serious business people.

  • I was a volunteer tour guide on the Norisle the first summer she arrived in Manitowaning.

  • hey i worked in the norisle on 2008

  • Removal? Or refurbishing?

  • removal

  • Ah. I remember you guys. I was the tall guy with the camera..

  • yes i remember you

  • pjkiley, who is looking after the project these days.I only recently heard about a possible engine refit and getting her hull sounded.any progress reports on this magnficant vessel. I've also heard the SS Keewatin was possibly making a trip too Thunder Bay although that is still under discussion.

  • With John Coulter on the team she will sail again!! After all, they said he was mad about restoring the Segwun, which was in poorer condition, so if he pushes in the same way, no doubt about it, Norisle will sail again.

  • I hope so!

  • I agree! I think they should get her running again because people want to sink her and make her a scuba diving attraction. All they need to do is fix it up a bit and let it travle the great lakes once more. I love ships and I dont want one of manitoulins oldest ships to be lost. If they do sink the ship there is a possibilityit an wash away and dissapear into the depths of the lakes never to be seen again. I do not want that to happen. I think this video u made really was a good idea.

  • A refit S.S. Norisle will make a terrific and one of a kind Northern Ontario and Great Lakes attraction. The ship is truly beautiful and has touched the lives of so many people over the years. I can't wait to book a cruise!

  • I can't wait to get a free one!
