Piece of Mind - Vancouver Film School (VFS)

This is the video I liked the most, from my point of view it fulfills the objective set with the video, it is loud and it can really be annoying in order to reflect what the character is actually feeling. I liked a lot particularly because I’m a drummer and when the character visualizes himself playing the drums he manages to find a little bit of inner peace allowing him to accommodate the pieces in his head. I think the actor really gets the part and the cube effects are excellent. Congrats!

This probably isn't exactly it, but for a similar effect (actually, you can achieve the same effect), try Video Copilot's TWITCH plug-in. You need Adobe After Effects to use it though. Use this plug-in with the Time setting to get a jerky kind of effect.

strange how everyone interprets this as a struggle with art using creativity versus logic. I thought that it was the journey of a mentally ill man trying distract himself and channel his madness into solving Rubix cube. He thought that at first if he could solve it, it would cure him. but then he realized the cube would not cure him, he set it down and we saw that the cube was twisted and uncurable like his mind. realizing that the object would not cure him freed him. only temporarily because

But you know what i think of the story? I think the story is about... the battle of his logic and creativity. Which is a metaphor for this video. Instead of "lets make a short film with well written plot, climax..etc." its "lets make a short film with just pure creativity". So at the end.. instead of solving the rubix cube with his logic, he made it into an art using creativity...thus the modified abstract rubix cube.

@myARTvideos: I agree with you, though I think the metaphor (logic vs. creativity) can also be applied outside of the context of the creation of the video itself. Most people are always trapped within the limits of our mind, and would do well to free ourselves from it's control.

And having said that, I think too much logical film analysis is taking place here!!! We need to be unplugged!!! Otherwise we're missing the point made in the video :)

See the tittle: "Piece of mind". The balls are the feelings, emotional part of the thinking.. see how that box stay away all that balls, "because logic don´t let you feel".. I think this video is more than Film with 3D graphics.. This is art!
