Those numbers weren't Young like because they didn't need him to put an air show in order to win. That was what they needed from him to win on that day. Aikman threw for 300+ yards but a big chunk came after they trailed 38-14 and the 49ers were glad to let them kill the clock.

Like the tuck rule 02', Raiders would have won but I could still say they got their chance in overtime to overcome it. In SB IV, the Cowboys fumbled and the refs called it for the Colts before uncovering the pile, at the bottom were the Cowboys cleary with possesion.
I agree with your overall point, but not when it removes points from a game. The tuck rule was something the Raiders could over come. The following FG only tied the game and sent it to OT. The raiders also didn't stop them in OT, so they had their chances. Fortunately for the 49ers they had a large enough cushion (21 pts) in the 1st 5 mins that they didn't end up wasting all that dough on the defense they bought to avoid having their season ended by the Cowboys a 3rd time.Any other team in the league would've caved in after spotting 21 to the Niners, but that didn't happen.Aikman was knocked down 18 times in that game, so I wouldn't say Frisco "called off the dogs". Okay now the biased fanboy in me has too speak. After the Cowboys spotted SF 21pts during the first 6 or so minutes of the 1st QTR, they went on to outscore the '9ers 28-17. Aikman & Irvin were unstoppable for 85% of that game! In fact the Triplets have turned the retrospective of that loss into their greatest accomplishment. From history's perspective the '94 Niners are moot. When their talked about the Cowboys end up overshadowing everything they accomplished.

Very true. Micheal ate Deion's lunch that day. Dallas was about to pull within one score when Deion basically climbed onto Irvin for an interception, totally pass interference and everyone knew it. Dallas was actually going to go into halftime only down 10 but Rice caught a last second touchdown in the back of the endzone on a bomb to end the half. Dallas played their ass off to make that a game. If Jimmy was still around no freakin way Young ever wins a super bowl.

The Niners were ready that day. Carmen Policy went out and bought them a defense with a pretty smart strategy of incentive bonus'. That's how Deion Sanders, & Kenny Norton JR. ended up on that roster. Jerry not giving Kenny the $ he deserved, had A LOT to do with the '9ers beating the Cowboys (twice), that season. That was a HORRIBLE decision by Jones. Kenny was the QB of the defense, and the smartest LB in the NFL at the time. Haven't gotten over that one yet.

Those numbers weren't Young like because they didn't need him to put an air show in order to win. That was what they needed from him to win on that day. Aikman threw for 300+ yards but a big chunk came after they trailed 38-14 and the 49ers were glad to let them kill the clock.
On the other hand, Steve Young had a killer game in the 1992 NFC Championship game (25-35 for about 325 yards) but the 49ers lost because they were also playing catch up in the second half.

Had Jerry Jones not fired Jimmy Johnson (or, had Johnson not quit), the Cowboys would have beaten the 49ers again in the '94 championship. Under Switzer that team had no discipline. Johnson had Seifert's number, ever since his "Three inch letters" statement. The Cowboys of the early 90s were deep at every position and they placed with the intensity of Coach Johnson. Free agency robbed them of key talent but they remained strong until the '96 season.

But, since we were wearing those incredibly stupid looking, over-hyped, publicity stunt, crappy uniforms... I guess we deserved to lose.
It was great, however, to see that the players still remembered who they were (despite our head coach at the time)... even though it was a 'little' too late.

Nobody will ever be able to claim they are the greatest franchise ever. Football will go on as the good Lord lets it. And unless one team pulls ahead of the rest by 10 championships like the Yankees have in baseball then you'll only be able to claim superiority for a year or two. 94' SF got #5 and then the Cowboys got #5 the very next year. The Steelers #5 was weak and the Seahawks got screwed by a horrible calls in the redzone. Worst played SB in history, snooze fest.

Um, the worst played Super Bowl was Dallas vs. Baltimore in Super Bowl V. That game was and IS still known for its horrible play with countless Turnovers. The game was so bad, the Cowboys Chuck Howley was named MVP, despite the fact that he lost. In fact, Certain Colt players refuse to wear their rings because of the bad play in the Super Bowl.

So SF had 59:45 to show that they were the better team after the holding call? If SF was so great then why did Dallas go on the road as big underdogs and convert 90% on 3rd down and win by 10 pts? Dallas then followed that up with a guaranteed ass whippin the next year and they walked the walk, winning by 17 w/o being spotted 21, late in the 4th it was actually 38-14 before Young added a keep it respectable TD. In 94' Dallas had 451-294 advantage in total offensive and outplayed SF after 21-0.

Dallas is 5-2 all time in the postseason against SF. 3-2 in Championship games. They've been to 5 more championship games and 3 more SBs. They've won more playoff games all time and more division championships. But SF are the Yankees of Football??? SF does have more HOF players but two factors help them. What does it matter that Allen played for the 49ers? He'll go into the HOF as a Cowboy, and he made the Pro Bowl based on reputation as 49er. Both teams have tons of great players, it's the wins that matter. Cowboys 5-2 in the playoffs vs SF. If it wasn't for free agency SF wouldn't have won in 94'. SF signed Ken Norton, Jr. (trader), Gary Plummer, Rickey Jackson, and Deion Sanders. Dallas lost Jimmy Johnson, Norv Turner, Erik Williams (car wreck) John Gesek, Kevin Gogan (2 starting guards).

If a team truly is great then they can overcome a bad call or two from the refs, there are less than a hand full of plays in playoff history that have truly screwed a team over. Like the tuck rule 02', Raiders would have won but I could still say they got their chance in overtime to overcome it. In SB IV, the Cowboys fumbled and the refs called it for the Colts before uncovering the pile, at the bottom were the Cowboys cleary with possesion.

I agree with your overall point, but not when it removes points from a game. The tuck rule was something the Raiders could over come. The following FG only tied the game and sent it to OT. The raiders also didn't stop them in OT, so they had their chances. But if the Raiders picked up the loose ball and ran it back for a TD, then you'd have an instance when the Refs could ruin the game and make it much harder for the Raiders.
