thank my acer 7520 was in continu rebooting after hard push closing the screen. After 3 attempts it workt. first measured heat-flow with thermother 200C second: 90 second blowing was sufficient. to repair the acer

Well a month is better than nothing but boy will get pissed off when it crashes

I got it running. Is there any way to really fix this problem that would be nice.

By the way thanks for your reply and this video which is far more help than seems available from Acer, if I were them I would do a good will thing and say fix it for some token amount as a good will gesture companies that do that get loyalty from customers and thats worth its weight in Gold :)

My sons one is doing same thing got it to start one by using hairdryer but then it returned to the loop of death again, I will give this a try but how long will it work for?

@cultofmao If you do it for 5 mins at 200° it should work for something like a month ;-)

@blogJM If the laptop is the same the video card is inside a chip that you can't remove. So the only way you have to make it work for few time is to follow my tutorial XD ;-)

This worked for me too, thanks very much. Kept 7520G motherboard with loop boot problem in oven at 200°C for 8,5 minutes (heated oven before putting MB in). Did not even remove the backup battery, fortunately nothing happened to it, kept time and date but next time I will remove it . Removed the ExpressCard spring system (was attached with two little screws). Now it has been working without problems 20 hours and I have booted it over ten times.

io ho provato sia con asciuga cApelli sia con la pistola profezzionale.....sempre lo stesso difetto.....non credo sia una soluzione buona si rischia tra l'altro di danneggiare molti altri componenti

A me ne ha regalato uno rotto un mio amico a Luglio del 2010, lo uso tutti i giorni da quando lo ho riparato, è ancora qui, perfettamente funzionante, con W7, una scheda video aggiornata e in OC (8600m GT), il processore in OC da 2,1 a 2,5 Ghz da un anno, ssd nuovo, nessun problema di surriscaldamento da quando ho cambiato la pasta termica...

Il pc in questione è ancora perfettamente funzionante, dopo averlo fatto 5-6 volte ci si prende la mano e non si rovina nulla ;-)

Per la pasta termica: sulla cpu la cambio ogni 2 interventi, sul chipset non ce n'è bisogno dato che il chip ha sopra un pad che conduce il calore (si vede a 2.29)

@ernmjet84 Dipende da come fai il lavoro... Sappi che minimo 1 mese per 5 minuti a 200°C ;-)

Comunque ti ricordo che questa non è una riparazione definitiva, ma solo un espediente per usare ancora il pc per un pò di tempo. Quello del video è ancora funzionante. Spero di averti aiutato :-)

Ho visto dei video in cui le persone operano fino a 350 / 400°, chi invece le mette nel forso e così via...

Tu cosa mi consigli? 200° per 5 minuti è il limite oppure si può osare di più? Ovviamente nei limiti della sicurezza. ANCORA GRAZIE !!!

@ernmjet84 Io dico che è meglio non rischiare troppo... 200°C per 5 minuti e stai sicuro che non avrai danni ;-)

Ovviamente più a lungo scaldi più durerà il trattamento, ma c'è un limite anche a questo. Credo che 10 min o mezz'ora comportino lo stesso risultato alla fine... In bocca al lupo per il reflow e occhio alla plastica lì intorno che dopo qualche trattamento diventa più cedevole! ;-)

And for the person who published this video... Pay attention, you didn't remove the board from the laptop, you risk to ruin other components, also, you didn't apply new thermal compound to cpu and gpu, your laptop is going to overheat very quickly!

Do not buy a secondhand notebook which is has a Nvidia chip.The reason: this like man.

If you want a Notebook with Nvidia chip the you requires guarantee atleast free months.

@OzRH2o Yes, it's called "unibridge", because there's no southbridge and that chip controls all the functions (I think). Anyway, I want to ask you a thing: I have the model with the mxm gpu (8400m), do you think that is possible to switch to the one that shold be in the chipset so save battery? that wold be great!

Per la possibilità di switchare sulla scheda video del chipset anzichè usare la scheda video dedicata, innanzitutto dovresti accertarti che esiste realmente la parte grafica all'interno del chip, dopodichè dovresti riuscire a procurarti i driver e da qui la dovrebbe riconoscere (non credo però sia possibile un hybrid)

You forgot one thing. After 5min and 200 C you need to find somebody dumb to sell this laptop :) We tried it with different laptops. It's working, but temporary. After you can do it again, but it will be working even shorter.

@SSvastika I think it depends on the laptop... In my case it worked for 2 months and then I overheated it again and it is working now... (more than 1 month). I agree with you, you can do this lots of times but maybe more frequently... We can say that this is a way to have a backup of the drive before the laptop stop working forever...
