The new cars might not have the same power but taking into account the new technology used in designing chassis, the new technology used in chassis, all of the electronic gadgetry, new engine technology(making them lighter, more responsive, etc), the newer cars should in theory kick the old cars arse... The audi s1 may have had 500hp

but modern cars are better designed to use the power that the engine can produce. i.e. if you have a bad chassis and 2000hp, you could prob get beaten by a perfect chassis set up with 200hp

Just like to mention that in 2004/5/6? (cannot remember) a metro 6r4 (probably the slowest of the Groub B Cars) came 8th despite going off backwards at 80mph, and set some fastest stage times in Ireland Overal against the WRC cars (at the hands of Colin McRae RIP) just goes to show that a well driven S1/T16/S4 could possibly still win a rally even 20 years later against modern technology.

Not sure what the situation is worldwide, but as an American I wish rally events got better television coverage. It is rare to see them on TV and unheard of to see them live or immediately after the race. Rally is so much better then NASCAR or IRL, why is it not marketed properly?

I'd have to agree with you... bad lining before the curves and have in mind that he has driven here many times before since theres no co-driver... it isnt an actual rally. Only a show on known roads so it would be expected with higher precision and speed.
