I used to have a best friend, about 3 years ago.

We used to beat half life, he was the brain and I was the shooter. A good combination. I remember that day when we both stayed up all night and played half life 1. We had a nice kicking night, soda, his puppies, movies playing in the background and the whole night.

Now I'm 15-almost 16. As time passed by, I had to leave the state to another one. I've lost all contact with him, only the dead memories of our childhood stayed with me...

@nomad6870 HL1 is a battle between Xen Wildlife (and not-so-wildlife) and the surviving researchers in the lab. It's only after HL1 that the Combine could make use of the opened portals to come here and take over this world.

Vortigaunts are slaves in this game - they don't have a choice but to fight you. That's why they help the Resistance in HL².

The main reason Half-Life is one of the best FPS games (if not THE best), is not because of graphics or audio or anything like that, it's because the game forces you to do everything yourself with no guidance, therefore making it alot more challenging. Especially if you're on the hardest difficulty. However, First Person Shooters nowadays don't require you to do much except kill whatever is on-screen. It's games like that that I ultimately lose interest in.

This has much better gameplay and has a wide range of weapons.
