Garbage game. Sonic hasn't been good since Sonic & Knuckles. They focus too much on the high speeds, not enough on any actual platforming.

Sonic isn't all about running to the end of a stage fast as possible, it's all about that bumpy road ahead, spikes, crushing celings and walls, pitfalls, water, lava, and all that good stuff...

Platforming? You have an "homing attack" button to get you to platform to platform. Rarely do you ever have to make precisely timed jumps.

And how many times have you heard of someone playing a Sonic game for platforming? I never have. People play Sonic for speed. That's the whole basis for Sonic is going fast and smashing through enemies. And don't get me wrong I'm not saying the classic games were bad. Every daytime stage in Sonic Unleashed can be beaten by running straight start to finish with hardly any stopping. There is nothing stopping you outside of the occasional spikes.

Every Sonic game after Sonic & Knuckles is a joke. Only the Sonic Advance + Rush put up any real effort of being semi-decent Sonic games worth a damn, but are fagged up with all the crappy extra characters.

on the wii version an s is easy on the day stages but on the night you have to find a bunch of stuff in a very short amount of time

Nicely done! It seems the PS3/360 version is a little more forgiving in giving you an S ranking. I've only played the Wii version, but I know that if you make the slightest mistakes on the day stages, you'll usually not get the S rank.

Actually, getting an S-Rank is easier on the PS2 version of the game, since it is only based on just time, not tricks, score, speed etc.
