You can really see the difference in screen quality in this video. The GBA has a terrible screen compared to the gp2x. But the new gp2x wiz blows everything out of the water with it's oled screen.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the NDS can also run WonderSwan Color roms using the dualSwan emulator (just in case you wanted to do a comparison video on WSC emulation).
The gba is far better than gp2x the commercial games on gba are amazing the gp2x has few games thet are rubbish compare to gba,why do people buy gp2x it's not popular console like gba the gba has been very high demand machine it even beat the n-gage qd.
The main reason people want a GP2X is that in can emulate (well!) Nes, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, C64 & Amiga. Not to mention runs MAME32. Who cares about the original games made for the GP2X. The GP2X is a retro gamers dream.
This is awesome by the way. : ) I have a GBA SP and a Turbo Duo. I would love to know how to put ROMs onto my GBA.
Though the GBA seems to be really dull and washed out. Is that just because of the recording? GBA can handle SNES games so why not TG16? Though the TG16 had a huge colour palette. CPU just isn't fast enough on the GBA I guess?
I agree. inch for inch, the backlit clamshell GBA is one of the best designs ever for handheld gaming. Powerful enough for SNES like games and a long lasting battery. Plus no worries about scratching the screen so you can just toss it on your backpack.
This is a pretty silly comparison. Even though the GBA handles the PCE fairly well, the GP2X is a far more advanced system than the GBA. It's like comparing an emulator running under SNES and DS.
Especially the intro-music is still very vivid in my mind. And by that i the intro-music to the original street fighter 2 to AMIGA - not NES and not street fighter 2 turbo or super.
That's a great idea. HU6280 does seem to play faster even though it doesn't support bzip2 like pcengine. But hey that's what bigger SD cards are for right?
Yep, Vobbo will get it in there at somepoint. He has not updated in a long while but got us a great emu, that he wrote himself from scratch, for the PC, for the GP2x in about 3 weeks, at full speed.
Too many shooters! Where were Ys 1&2, Benkei Gaiden, and Momotaro Densetsu? ;) Also, Street Fighter II was a little disappointing with the graphics glitches. :(

GBA has too dark screen.
zsoltixx93 2 years ago
Thats because the gba here uses a front screen light, unlike the later gba's.
It looks dark here but in reality it looks good.
I love the GBA and I'm looking forward to playing Panza kickboxing,Devils crash, twinbee and bomberman using the TG emulator.

My mom always tell me to play it on daytime.

the gba emulator on gp2x isn't very good, doesn't play most good games at a decent speed.

Great vid! BTW, the NDS can run PCE/TB16 roms via flashcart (like M3 DS Real, which can also run Game Gear, Nintendo, and Sega Master System roms).

Yeah, I would like to have an M3 one day or one of those SDHC ones in the DS slot. they've come down so much in price.

Great vid.
Does the emulator for the GBA run CD pc engine games?
I ask because I would LOVE to have pang for my GBA but I think it was only available on CD.
Cheers.
imperialpod 2 years ago
Thanks for the vid.
Now I have no fears as to whether my favourite PCE games will play on my GBA.
Cheers.

Gotta love these side by side comparisons. It's great to see some of these PCE games running OK on the humble GBA.

Just to tell you, the GBA runs at 16.78MHz, you may change that in the video description! ;)

I'm not sure. that's a good question. I know the NeoGeo emulator can do CD games.
