@aranelinya . Hi. We have our secret Jungle Juice (made from 100% recycled Jungle) and that is high power and good for electric vehicles (have a look at metalectrique.co.uk).
For phone charging, lights etc. have a look at icanique.com. I want to hear from anyone who likes this technology and wants to get involved because things are moving and I will need all kinds of help. JackTSunn
@JackTSunn As is often the case the real genius comes with figuring out what 1 can be done with a new discovery. Best as I can tell the Baghdad battery didn't lead to many improvements in the lives of the everyday person. That the Baghdad battery, wan indeed a battery is speculation. recorded history your cell here works based on the discoveries of Galvani,Volta & others. The Air AL cell is another interesting cell.
Where did you dig up the information? A book I read in 4th grade described the Babylon battery as a clay pot with a copper rod and 'an old spear', with the electrolyte being some truly repulsive donkey doings. Ammonia soaked clay works VERY well - and did you just show me how to power my garden lights? Thank You very much, Jack - I like it!
Actually, can you imagine being the bloke who, 4000 years ago, built the baghdad battery from clay, pitch, an iron rod and some red wine vinegar. Genius.
The whole point of using an aluminum can is that it is made of aluminum, and serves as one of the electrodes in the battery.. If you used a plastic container, You would need to build a second electrode.
Hi Madmax, you're right, that's why we're in France where most power is nuclear. Most aluminium is produced by hydropower. The energy is free to you if you use waste aluminium, you paid for the beer, not the can.
Aluminium power isn't CO2 free unless the electricity which was used to produce the Al. was generated by nuclear, wind or solar power etc. You're simply harnessing the stored potential energy of the metal which usually occurs as an oxide. The same energy is violently released in Thermite by reacting powdered aluminium and say Iron Oxide. Hardly "free" other than beer being "free" if your mate buys it for you.
The Bagdad Battery is quite different. We're using waste Aluminium to make power - and it's free (CO2-free and money-free!). The Bagdad battery is feeble; ours produces 1.2V per cell and the power depends on the area of the cathode. This is a serious battery. Check out metalectrique dot com
ok TY guys yeah this was tought in school. It salves my problem about a few things and here is a thought. has any one ever made one in the shape of a pyrimid before??? im going to try it

Thanks Volkgardenbysquirrels garden lights are on my list too but I would caution that donkey doo electrolyte odours may affect your beer enjoyment.

Simply amazing
a simple and eco friendly method for power generation.
Is there any limit to it's size because those blue plastic barrels would be perfect or just an old discarded plastic trash can. Wow this is so cool
Can you point me to a how to article please

@glenisah It's not eco friendly. You need tremendous amounts of energy to electrolyse aluminium from its ore. Recycling is a better option.

Where did you get information about (wrote in your description): "An aluminium can like this has about 60Wh of electricity"
So this can light up even 11 W CFL lamp too? For many hours?
Careica 3 years ago
The industry standard figure is 4kWh per kg (theoretical 8.1)
The new version will be capable of about 10 watts so you'd need two to power your lamp but it would run for 120/11= ie >10 hrs

fake or not fake, that the question?

The answer to your question is that it's real. We're sending our Trash Battery 3 out to Africa in February for trials.

very good :)

C'est quoi le principe ?
ibercaracole 4 years ago
It's an electrochemical reaction between aluminium, air and water.
JackTSunn 4 years ago
hey prof...I think you should just say : OXIDE-REDUCTION is the process involved...

I hope you like this. Remember, when you throw away aluminium foil, or cans it's like throwing away petrol. Make your own power, for free.
