Thanks for the information abdeg. The Scarborough I was refering to is the original one in North Yorkshire, England.
The Open Air Theatre has been long closed down, but it is still there, albeit in a state of disrepair. In it's heyday it was unique in all the world, as it was the only one of it's kind. However, the lousy summer weather in North Yorkshire eventually put paid to it's viability. The theatre itself was in the middle of a lake, so was an ideal setting for "Showboat"
This version is excelent, where was the venue.? I remember seeing Show Boat for the first time when I was a child at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough, and, wrapped in a blanket and sipping cocoa out of a flask, was enchanted by the spectacle, and of course , the music, which was accompanied throughout by the Hammond Organ, played expertly by Robinson Cleaver. Days of wonder and innocence. Far away from the World today.
Thank you for posting this. The artists in this are First Class.
This performance took place in April 1989 at the Cedarbrae Auditorium in Scarborough Ontario. The two singers in this production were married in 1991 and are currently retired from showbusiness. One is a Teacher the other is a psychologist. Yes this music is timeless and yet so needed in today's world of quick pop sensations. Thank you for your kind words.
Thats him. My music teacher;
Dear. My Eastwood. I miss you dearly. Please come and visit.
You've changed the way i look at the world.
I hope the kids at your new school love you as much as we did
