@NCK5 "UP" holds the gear up by the hydraulic systems. "Off" is also an option, however not with my company. When selecting "off" the gear will rest on the closed gear doors.

how amazing. to be honest, i would be feeling a little scared. 220 knots is very fast, but until you are flying over clouds as little as 5-10 feet away, those 220 knots are just numbers, you have no idea how fast you really are going, if you get what i mean.

Flight Levels start normally at zero. What you might mean is the following:

Except in America the takeoff phase is completed by passing FL100. In America, you have to wait until passing 180. That's the difference ;)

FL180 in North America, and FL100 in Europe are the Transition Altitudes. It's at these heights that you reset altimeter to standard pressure and refer to your altitude as levels. Prior to these, you set altimeter to local settings receied via METAR or ATC and refer to your altitude in actual height i.e. "5000 feet" instead of "flight level 050"

The transition Altitudes are depending on each airport and are written on every airport chart.

Nevertheless you switch your Ldg-Lights and (if the wheather allows) the Seatbelt Signs on/or off.

By passing FL100(or FL180 in the US) you can say that takeoff is completed and you are allowed to also speak about "non-flying-themes".
