  • This "society" really is complete bullshit. They need to be shut down.

  • Thanks

  • Thumbs up if you skipped to 50 seconds!

  • If they are paying members the royalties then they are well within the law. HOWEVER, if this is the case then it seems they should only be going after music on here from people who are subscribers or paid members. You only have the right to use copyrighted music if you don't get paid, so if you play a song that's on the radio, and put it on here, and don't get paid, you should be okay, if they put an add on it someone is getting paid, then THEY are breaking the law.

  • They claimed rights to a song I wrote and my cousin performed - I own the rights and if anyone has their contact info I will sue. Because they are claiming something that is mine.

  • YOU ARE RIGHT.. THIS IS CUH BS.. I JUST GOT ONE FOR W VIDEO OF MY CAT AND ANOTHER FOR A VIDEO OF CLOUDS WITH NO MUSIC OR TV ON THEM OR ANYTHING.. THESE PEOPLE ARE NO WORKING LAZY ASZ THEIVES!!! SUE THEM IF YOU CAN.. PEACE & THANKS MAN.. AMUNRA...

  • I've had these clowns claim rights on a few of my videos as well. I also use Kevin McLeod and recently began making my own music via GarageBand on my iPad. I've had it with using any popular music, from now on, it will be stuff I create myself. Then there will be no question. I'm sure this infuriates Mr. McLeod also!

  • I'm fairly certain what they are doing falls under the category of extortion.

  • The Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society is a fraudulent organization trying to collect royalties on Public Domain or other material not eligible for copyright. Read the comments on their Facebook page.

  • Just had one flagged by this bunch yet it only has royalty free music & another by same group, of a clip I have of pure game play, not even including in game music.

Disputed, one removed instantly, still waiting on second.

It`s about time they sodded off &/or said what exactly was supposed to of been used..

  • If you used PD content, or otherwise have the rights to use the content (for example, when it's Creative Commons licensed), then counter claim and report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. They're committing copyfraud, look it up on Wikipedia.

  • I have also emailed Testors, AMT and Revell to see if they allow people to post videos on YouTube, I'm waiting for replies.

  • For the last several weeks, I have been posting videos about plastic models kits. There's no musical composition in these videos, all I do is show what comes in the box, NOTHING ELSE!. There is absolutely no musical composition, how can they flag a video about plastic model kits!? If anyone can make since of this please feel free to explain it to me.

  • Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society tagged an update video I made using Kingdom Hearts music. Who the hell are there guys?

  • i got this Publishing Rights Collecting Society for my video but idk how to get it away plz help

  • I saw this. What the heck is going on?? I have 2 videos flagged...I'm upset. LOL

  • they claimed that the sound on a video of me destroying an airship in minecraft belonged to them

  • Why does YouTube support them. That is the big question???

  • I disputed it rightaway.

My video still works now worldwide, except in Germany. What to do?

  • asswholes flagged my Deux Ex

  • They do it to everyone --'

But you can dispute the claim whitout any risk :)

  • This "Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society" mady a claim of my PS3 playthrough video of Tom Clancy's HAWX. What the hell? Should I dispute the claim? Because it's my work, there is nothing more that just the gameplay footage.

  • @XJVHS Yeah, dispute the claim. It should go away.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC I disputed it now. I just hope it doesn't turn against me.

  • @XJVHS im preetty sure they still own the rights.... just because you made it doesnt mean you have the rights to show their footage

  • @gjnave Someone owns the rights to it, not the MPRCS. They have no right to claim his video's. Only the company who owns the rights to the game can. That would be Ubisoft.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC Ubisoft actually made claims for my HAWX 1 videos so I had to take those down.

  • @XJVHS Were they the same videos that the MPRCS claimed or different ones?

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC Same videos, so there was nothing I could do about it.

  • @XJVHS Well, at least it was the real company who did it and not a fake one.

  • I actually had this happen when I just posted part 17 of my Skylanders blind playthrough. Never had this happen before, not sure why they suddenly claim copyright.

I'm currently going through the list of videos and saying "Copyright Activision and so and so" to see if it helps anything.

  • @BassFIow Counter claim the video and put in the claim box that you created the music.

  • I put up videos of my school's band and so far two of them have gotten flagged by the Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society. I have a question for you: if it's my school's band playing sheet music that my band director purchased, is it still considered copyright? Do they have a legitimate claim? I don;t want to dispute it and ruin my account, but you seem to be knowledgeable on this subject so I thought I would ask you.

  • @coda623 Yep it is still protected by copyright, unless the music is public domain or royalty-free. They are not a real "Collecting Society" so they do not hold the rights to the music so if you do dispute it I do not think they can or would do anything. The only people who can hurt your account would be the real copyright holder of the music you uploaded.

  • I just recently got this while doing a playthrough of Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future (PS2).

The odd thing is that part 01 of it didn't get tagged with this, but part 02 did and I just wonder why it got tagged in the first place...

After looking this up in some places... some say it's a scam, some say it's something else, etc. and I just don't know what to do. On one video they disputed it and it went away almost instantly, so I gave that a try, and almost instantly, it's not marked.

  • @Sonic8000 Same thing with all my videos they claimed. It went away instantly. Now someone (it might just be YouTube's Content ID matching system messing up) is saying videos I upload of Minecraft have music by Bach in them.. I can still put my own ads on them though. I guess it is just because Bach's music is in the Public domain, but still it is a false Content ID match. So I thing YouTube's computers are just messing up.

  • @freecomkfc

who are they fuckin saying they own rights to my tunes in my set

when the fuckin dj who produced the tunes gave them to me on cd

as were fuckin m8s lol.........lieing bastards!!!

  • nice video brandon, but i got a question. i just uploaded a dj mix an hour ago and these assholes just marked my video as infringing on the MPRCS's rights, and all the songs on the mix were original content, OFFERED FOR FREE on biznot(dot)biz/products, a japanese website. can i dispute something like this?

i'm asking here because you seem like you know what you're talking about, and YouTube forums probably won't help me for shit.

  • @freecomkcf I am almost positive they do not hold the rights to the songs you used. But Was the music you used Royalty-free or public domain? If they aren't then you might have some trouble disputing there claim.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC i'm not really sure because i can't read much japanese and it doesn't look like they have a legal page

anyways i just submitted a dispute and they retracted their claim almost as fast as they made it so i guess this cements the fact that the "society" is most likely a bunch of bots

  • @freecomkcf Yeah they must be bots and not real people if it does it that fast.

  • My upload of the 7th episode of "Interster" was matched as having property on that. I don't know how, the show is South African during the aparatheid era. Highly doubt that they actually have anything to do. They're marked, but the video's just shows ads.

  • I get these all time, but how can they keep doing this, I mean come on how is it that no one is sueing them this company is basicly doing something illlegal claiming rights to something that isn't theirs. I'm postive they use a computer system to make these claims because i made video that claimed in less than sec after uploading it. Can't youtube track down the coputer doing this and sue the person who program it to do this.

  • These guys have also put ads on my play-through of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, so far they've only done it on my Marble Zone video so it looks like I might have to shut down my account on YouTube and move over to Blip.TV, Dailymotion or Veoh.

Yeah YouTube is broken in terms of how copyright goes. If its anyone who should be claiming copyright, it will be Sega and I do pretty much think that this group is breaking the law. Idiots :(

  • I just got these bastards claiming copyright on one of my Final Fantasy X walkthrough clips.

  • @TheNewEmphinix They freaking claimed on a FF7 Let's Play of mines. And it hasn't even been up for a full day!

  • @Donte758 YouTube has really hit rock bottom, all because of the copyright bullshit

  • @TheNewEmphinix Agreed. Thankfully I got rid of it as soon as I filed the counter claim or whatever its called. I really miss pre-copyright YT :-/

  • I just got these guys claiming copyright on one of my Super Street Fighter 4 matches, I assume they tried to claim copyright due to the music playing in the background ("Theme of Cammy" by Hideyuki Fukasawa). However they do not hold the copyright to the compositions by this composer. I do hope my dispute works, it's ridiculous about what these people are claiming copyright over.

  • I got this to! My videos have been removed before so it freaked me out! Like if i get one more video removed it'll get suspended which would pee me the hell of! :S I mean the audio i used was a piano remake of a song, made by someone else, NOT THEM, and he had a license 4 that song aswell so.... this company are dicks :/

  • i agree

  • these bastards also claimed copyright on me playing mozart which has been public domain for a hundred damn years! i filed a dispute. seriously, if these fuckers can do this, whats to stop ME from saying i'm some all mighty organization who owns the music or video in ANYONE's video. I cant believe youtube falls for this total garbage!!!

  • Yeah, WTF!? I have them on my minecraft videos, and what the heck they think they have to do with c418's music and notch's game?

  • @ZertapZ4Edition Hummmm.. There just claiming everything left and right. I know for a fact Notch would not want them claiming his game. Just try counter claiming it and say in the counter claim that when you go to there terms page it states "You're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game"

  • Hey I beat their claim!

Dispute the claim, and say this after checking bubble 2:

Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

    It worked!

  • @CoverSongsUnited That's awesome! Thank's for sharing!

  • @CoverSongsUnited Dude thanks alot for this i really appreciate it :). I worked for me too. I disputed the claim they put out on my lyric video and this worked so thanks for this :) !!!

  • @porker510 No problem, they won't be making any money from our vids anymore ;}

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC They have a Facebook page. I am not sure if it's official. I doubt it, but you never know. You wouldn't believe what their "Info" space has:

"You get the pleasure of posting videos

We get the pleasure of making money from your videos

    It's a win-win situation :)"

"A wide variety of people post videos containing content that belongs to our organization. We didn't make the music ourselves, but nonetheless we can still make money from it."

Again, I think it's not official.

  • @MusicOfAdam Yeah that page HAS to be a troll page. If it is real then they brave for putting that because it is true.

  • got this from a crysis playthrough.

  • @microTerminator2 dang there just claiming anything and everything.

  • So let me get this, they aren't here to remove your video? But all they do is collect money for band/labels who have published the music. Or can they remove it, and if they do, do you get a strike? Or is it different than other labels/organizations.

  • @Stickgoncraz No they are not here to remove videos or give strikes. They only say they are collecting the money for bands and labels but I think they are keeping the money for themselves. Example. One of my videos got a match to 3rd party material for Bach.. they started collecting money for that video but it is in the public domain so I counter claimed it and won right away. Who would get the money for the public domain music nobody so then they would have to keep it for themselves.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC Thanks for the answer, and you got a really good point/example =/

  • @Stickgoncraz Thanks for commenting.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC No problem.

  • i got that on my video which is 40 free youtube backgrounds remake with new music aswell what was a remix

  • @metalmanjerm That's very strange how they would be collecting money on Public domain music. That is not a legit company. And they are keeping all of the money they get. They aren't giving it to the owners. The proof is Bach is dead and his music is in the public domain nobody holds the rights to that music so who would they give it to. They can't give it to anyone or keep it. Once you perform a public domain work YOU are they copyright holder of the performance. They are fake.

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC they just did that to me and my video is Jesus Loves Me from the 1800's! I checked it and got it from a copywright free place, I have been using old hymns so I would not have to deal with copywrite issue, so this "society" tagged me!

  • Excuse my English! wanted to know if anyone has had a video removed or canceled account.

  • @PaisagemSonora1 From all of the research I have done, no.. They are just interested in making money. Someone, I don't know who (probably the MPRCS) is saying my videos of me playing Minecraft have music by Bach in them. They don't. But the good thing is they can't get any money off of my videos because I am a YouTube partner (I am a part partner) and I have the option to claim my videos before they have time to false claim them.

  • something very strange this MPRCS! If Google has to do with it. what they want? There have been a case of someone who was harmed, and your video has withdrawn or canceled?

thank you for addressing this issue here SingingAndComedyOfSC!

  • @PaisagemSonora1 Well, I don't think Google has anything to do with it. Because this video would probably not be up still. And I am not very sure what you mean by "your video has withdrawn or canceled?" And your welcome!

  • The arrangement is performed Bach's own. In Brazil, the copyright lasts for seventy years after the death of the composer. After the work becomes public domain

  • @PaisagemSonora1 Oh okay. Make sure you depute there claim.

  • It happened to me too. A video with music by Bach in interpretation of the string quartet from the University of Pará - Brazil. say it is their property. absurd!

  • @PaisagemSonora1 The only thing I can think of.. Who is that music arranged by? Is it the original music written by Bach? Because if it is arranged by someone it is covered by copyright laws. BUT That sill does not give The MPRCS the right to collect royalties. And I do not know Brazil's copyright laws so everything I just said might be different.

  • emm y como puedo evitar esto ?

and how to avoid this problem

  • @crissoscuro There really is no way to avoid it. They are starting to say that Bach wrote music in Minecraft now they have put that in almost all of my Minecraft videos.

  • Sorry, but the first 49 seconds of this were absolutely pointless.

  • @JorgeL721 Whoops, didn't read the note in the beggining, disregaurd or delete these comments.

  • That's nothing. One of my videos got copyrighted by Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society and it doesn't even contain NO MUSIC whatsoever. Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society is fucked up.

  • @JoeyVoicesProduction Yes they are. Make sure you counter claim it.

  • Comment removed

  • "FROM THEIR OWN NEW FB PAGE -

    About

You get the pleasure of posting videos We get the pleasure of making money from your videos It's a win-win situation :)

IS IT OBVIOUS TO ANYONE ELSE THIS IS A SCAM???

    YOU TUBE??????? HELLO??????"

  • @gvSAXBOY I saw that. I was like "what the heck!"

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC - weird thing is, NO responses since the page went up. I think it might be an unrelated jokster or something. If it is a dude scamming the system, I cant imagine why he would be soooo stupid as to create a page. It is really weird!

  • @gvSAXBOY Yeah it must be a jokster. Good point.

  • They have flagged a video of mine, which is unlisted. It's something I'm working on and will be released soon. All the sounds and music is created by us. All of it. We have filmed everything our selfs and even the sleeping hat is made by ourselves.

    It's stupid.

  • @AreYouBenMusic Make sure you submit a counter claim.

  • Hmm, first amendment right?

  • @CoverSongsUnited What first amendment right? lol, They are taking it away!

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC I think if you don't put the video in the category 'music' they can't do anything. I could be wrong, but they only got one of my videos & that was in the music category.

  • @CoverSongsUnited Well sometimes they claim Minecraft videos. So it might be music and gaming. But ever since I became a YouTube partner they left me alone. It is strange why they would claim Minecraft videos because there called Music Collecting Society not Music and Games Collecting Society.. There just a company that only cares about the money I guess. lol

  • @SingingAndComedyOfSC Gosh more like a bunch of broke fat old guys who have nothing better to do and can't get a job D:

  • the Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society just claim copyright on a computer game which i did for let's play(without commentary)

    Who are they anyway?

  • @reviewwatch Well from the research I have done they don't exist. They have a Facebook page and that is about it.

  • 2:34 : they are flagging all kinds of videos to get money through ad clicks they are not entitled to. No one bothers because everyone is scared about copyrights and their youtube channel. Easy money for them because even if someone disputes, they get not punished for anything.

  • Sorry for the double post, but I should also point out that in the 2 Lemmings videos of mine that were flagged, the song that was playing was to the tune of Jingle Bells.... a song published in the 1850s.... *face palm*.

  • @Shortmandesigner I have noticed they are claiming a lot of Public Domain music, they have no right too.. As for why is YouTube not doing anything about it.. I have heard from more than one person that The MPRCS is somehow involved with YouTube or was created by Google. But I have not found anything that says Google owns or is working with the MPRCS.. I do not believe The MPRCS is in anyway connected to Google/YouTube. YouTube/Google should do something about this.

  • So I get on to check on how my (all gaming) videos are doing, and I notice I have a few copyright claims on my account.

I disputed each claim, but they tried to flag:

    2 Lemmings videos

    1 Oregon Trail video

    1 Lion King video

Seriously... who are these guys and why are they flagging videos and nothing is being done about it by YouTube? O_o

  • I uploaded Part 15 of my Metro 2033 Let's Play and i got an ownership claim from them... I strive to keep all my content original and this is the 7th group that have claimed copyright on my videos when they DON'T OWN A THING. This needs to stop.

  • it seems there going around claiming C418's music in minecraft video's just great...

  • Just got flagged for one of my Minecraft "lets play" videos. It appears these system cheating bums are making money off of C418's music, in which strangely enough I used in another let's play video and didn't get flagged...it's making me think its completely random videos getting flagged by a illegal copyright group.

  • @TheIggyTech that's strange.. Minecraft let's people upload video from the game.

  • @TheIggyTech i got the same!! but guess what:MY VIDEO HAVE NO MINECRAFT MUSIC IN!

  • @alexandbros wow even more proof these guys are a scam. Ah what a world we live in.

  • Yeah they just flagged one of my lets play videos.

  • @ms18ins That sucks.

  • i guess all "The Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society" wants is getting sued.

  • @grantiestick one of these days they are going to get sued.

  • I'm going to disable all of the adds to my videos because of this.

  • Thanks for the information.

  • do not worry about this company '... appears when there is' a hypothetical copyright on your video .. but the song is not 'recognized it as such,,, that' o 'clean .. why' has been cleaned by someone .. before you dump it to mp3 .. or do not consider it important and damaging as copyright .. .. or you would have the name of a major record label ... hello

  • Also, you can dispute it, I had some songs that they flagged, and I disputed it and they didn't dispute my dispute.

  • They just do it because they want to get money.

  • call the FBI on thime here is the number (202) 324-3000
