  • 89 grateful dead not peak? you still trippin dude?

  • I toured during this era. Sad to say, not their peak years.

  • I got more religion from Jerry than I ever got from religion. This was revival with liquid lights.

  • These were some of the best times in my life.........Alpine during a thunderstorm, yeah If the thunder don't get ya then the lightning will

  • During Furthur at MSG last november they played this and the old head turns around to me says "this is like my favorite song that I forgot was my favorite song"

  • That,s it

  • I was here. Sooo miss the music and the people. At that point it was still like a family. You could camp at the shows. People looked out for one another .The music will never cease to lift me up!

  • yes!

  • they were warning us and we didn't listen..:(

  • Brent Mydland (October 21, 1952 – July 26, 1990)

  • I love this song. I crank it up when I'm driving. peace

  • hi, i think i saw a zillion shows but i never saw a brent show. watching this performance; i was lucky that i missed those shows. watching this song you can see the spirit of morgoth creeping along in the shadows. the end was evident but i didn't really want to see the clues. k.

  • Wheres tough guy jake?? Busy whacking off to Obama???? Figures.

  • fuck you cunt. Be a tough guy online, thats what people like you are good for. Eat shit and die..PS your idols are all drug addicts

  • fuck you cunt. Be a tough guy online, thats what people like you are good for. Eat shit and die

  • go brent go

  • I WAS THERE!!!!!

  • Another beautiful song , ruined by Brent Mydland : (

  • @whillop You Sir, are an ass. While this performance is rather tired, Brent is bringing it.

  • @seamones Brent sings like he's trying to take a shit .

  • Was there, reunited with a girlfriend for the weekend. Saw the Airplane reunite in golden gate park in the afternoon,& the Dead that night. Great day of music, but still bittersweet.

  • BRENT!!!!

  • my fave... i miss my jerry lix...

  • Awesome show, was there. Great footage of Midland, A shame of his dimise, As Jerry.

    RIP

  • this is a little 'choppy' for my taste in 'The Wheel' It isa beautifully written song and my personal taste leans towards versions that are a bit more "lilting" and have a bit of a Comes A Time feel to it. Just my opinion. Along personal lines as well-Brent starts to sing over the top of Jerry in the late 80's. Singing louder than Jerry on Garcia/Grisman is inexcusable. Speedballin' will do that to a guy though. Too bad soundboard could'nt tone him dwn. Not a h8tr...he's awsme till 'mid88 Ya!

  • I remember. It gives me chills too. Jerry was a great interpreter of poetry into song. He couldn't really sing for shit, and his guitar playing was not the best, but he was like any other artist; never reaching perfection, but amazing the hell out of everyone who witnesses their works. Thanks for posting this.

  • I was at this show-pretty good seats too!God bless Mr. Graham for extra wide aisles for dancing!!!

  • won't u try just a lil bit harder??? won't u try just a lil bit more? ;) sure thing Jer

  • Who wears short shorts? Remember that commercial... Bobbie wears short shorts!

ha ha ...just a light joke..don't get all mad...love these guys and this song.

  • Does anyone know who did a speeded up, sort of dire cover of this song? I thought it was Bob Weir on "Ace" but it's not on that album.

  • @BThwaithe It is on the album called Garcia same one with the Deal on it...

  • @sharegrace Thanks. I managed to get a used CD of "Garcia" off Amazon. I really love the "Garcia" version of this song.

  • @BThwaithe Yes that album, studio version has Garcia on pedal steel guitar. Plus it is very fast.

Garcia did a good job in producing that.

    God rest his soul.

  • I'm guessing 'thewineisfine' is probably weighing in at a half ton himself. Lighten up. I never called Jerry "the fat man" either but now's not the time to get all Lilith Faire on everyone..

  • Remember when you were a kid and you heard a really cool tune and it made your legs tingle and the hair on the back of your neck stand up?

This song still does that to me.

  • @2soakers Box of Rain still does it to me after more then a decade.

  • @2soakers Yeah, me too. This song, Wasn't Born To Follow and the version of NFA/GDTRFB on Skull+Roses do it EVERY time.

    Greets to Deadheads everywhere!
