It's a great movie but the kid portrays a weak kid in a world of sorrows, which is a flaw of the movie. In reality, people who are born to face such a world learns and get tough but what they show is a kid that can't stand for himself and act like a little pussy.

@SchacksenIA Yes, it is in Starcraft =) But thats not the only place you can hear it! It's originally known as the "gut wrenching scream and fall into distance" or "Howie scream". Believed to have been used first in the movie: The Ninth Configuration. Can be heard in a bunch of movies and games =) Google it for a full list, if you're interested

Another well know sound effect is the "Wilhelm Scream", check it out =D.

This movie was okay, but I can assure you that the book is better. Cormac McCarthy is an amazing writer and he pieces the story together beautifully. I was absolutely haunted by this book. It is far more thrilling, will force you to cry, and keep you awake at night. If you want a real rush, read the book. I also loved McCarthy's book, "No Country For Old Men"; however, in this case, it is better to watch the movie. Javier Bardem was phenomenal, as were Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones.

I can't believe Cormac McCarthy agreed to this interpretation of his book. The whole point about the latter (which is utterly compelling/brilliant), is that you never know what caused the apocalypse. Secondly,you can already see that most of the shooting is done where the natural lighting is normal, yet throughout the book, McCarthy describes greyness and death of both the environment and light. Mortensen is also far too 'heroic' and 'Hollywood' as the father, who is deeply flawed in the book

Even if you are not particularly interested in survival fiction, you should read this novel.
