  • lol jeff is so good, my pc was not able to load the list of related videos

  • Yeah just warming up he is so clean and exact with his runs it is unbelievable. I played a few shows with him when he was in Nevermore. Jager shots was a fave of his and mine! Nicest guy in the world.

  • The Master of Metal Guitar (in my opinion)!

  • Fuck yeah Dethklok shirt!!

  • man I creamed when he played Born. Greatest chorus and solo EVER!!!

  • the first shred sounded like paul gilbert

  • i watched the warmup part at the begining like 30 times! it is that insane!

  • nvm, i did it the long way, but the good way, listening to every single nevermore song, now i consider myself truly a fan. i've been trying to learn loomis solo's my guitar teacher shows me for about a year now, and i love his style. and im so disappointed in myself that i've never heard there first couple albums...

  • no one has yet found out what song im talking about yet? FIRST PERSON TO E-MAIL ME THE NAME OF THE 2nd SOLO HE DOES GETS A e-HUG AND A e-HIGH FIVE!!!!!!! starts at 1:37. i wanna learn that solo, but cannot figure out what song it is.

  • @infamousstitch The River Dragon Has Come

  • i realy really really want to find the 2nd solo he does, what song is that? i know the first ones final product, but that fuckin 2nd one is badass. and i want to know the song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone e-mail me asap

  • at 2:33 his face is so heavy))) Loomis kicks ass!!!

  • DETHKLOK SHIRT FTW! GO LOOMIS!

  • SHIT! Anyone wanna help me mop my melted face off the floor?

  • look at the giant vein going to his index finger o_0

    Loomis kicks ass

  • jesus fucking christ, intense playing.

  • I want to be reincarnated as his pick

  • win comment

  • "pick" is another word for dick in swedish :)

  • Haha , that's a double win for you , mister!

  • lol

  • @TerraHuman

yea well imagine how much tail Jeff Loomis gets, i wouldnt mind being his dick either.

  • Hahahaha!!! Legend!!

  • @Tritwop you'd spend your whole life on fire. :D

  • Kicks major ass

  • HE IS A GOD!

  • wearing a Dethkok shirt..awesome

  • Id say 95% of guitar players will never sound as good as that warm up. Thats so damn clean.

    Could be wrong, maybe 96%...

  • r u supposed to sound clean in ur warm up?...

  • i guess its more then 96%

  • @scherzo1928 you are worng it's like 98.2%

  • @scherzo1928 I think it more like 99.5%

  • Hey, anyone know what ENGL amp model Jeff uses?

He is so friggen FLAWLESS it is DISGUSTING!!

And I thought Jeff Water's was enough to make me kill my guitar!!!

  • the SE model

  • Thank you. I have played through and ENGL(don't know the model) before for a few minutes and had no idea what it was at the time... pretty amazing how saturated it was compared to my Mesa Boogie Tripel Rectifier.... I think I want one!

  • chris broderick is sick too. mabe I should listen to some nevermore

  • jeff loomis= Guitar Jesus!!!

  • Even though Loomis is probably my favorite modern guitar player, i wish he did more stuff like Michael Amott and did like super soulful peices in between metal songs.

  • Ahhhh that warm up was orgasmic, can't stop listening to it, he's got some style this man

  • Oh how I'd love an ENGL with that sig.

  • "psalm of lydia!!"

NO ITS NOT THE 'PSALM OF LYDIA"!!!

  • "Psalm of Lydia"

    lol

  • What model guitar is he using????

  • his signature 7 string... loomis c-7, I believe

  • Not C7.

Schecter simply refers to it as Jeff Loomis 7. This one's the FR version of it.

  • hahaha, what an ass I am... so true ^_^ I don't know why the hell I wrote C =P

    Thanks for the correction ;)

  • Oh, no probs man. Happy to help out! Must be force of habit to attach a C to something by Schecter, haha.

On a sidenote, his model is closer to the Hellraiser than the C line!

Just jerkin you 'round man. Peace!

  • Yeah, that's what makes me even more of an ass... I mean... you see it and at first you say, OMG! a new Hellraiser =P but nooooooo, I HAD to say a C =P Must be as you say, too many C's in Schecter, hahaha ^_^

  • As you put it this time 'round, I'm guessin' I'll stick with your ideology of you being an ass rather than my own of having too many Cs in Schecter. =P =P

  • hahahaha =P

But we could go over to the Idea that schecter has too many C models =P

  • My idea is wrong, my good man, and can admit it with my head held high. Your idea seems far more plausible. =P

But then again, wouldn't all this make me even a bigger ass than yourself.... *cough* I mean, wouldn't all this make me more prone to being an ass than Schecter having too many C's? Yeah, that's what I meant ^_^

(I've gone and confused myself there, haha)

  • Don't worry... this actually means that we're having a serious moment of insanity ^_^

  • wtf dudes? ^^

  • fuck yeah!!!!!

  • Loomis fucking shreds

  • The fucking warm up's worth 5 starts

  • as a self taught guitarist, it makes me proud to see a guitarist shred this hard with such finesse, and style. It goes to show that even though classically trained guitarists are awesome, us self taught players can reach a level of imagination with the instrument thats dank as shit because we ignore the rules.

any self taught guitarist here can attest to that, you know that knowing the rules can make you paranoid about fucking up. I enjoy fuck ups, they lead to creativity :)

  • jeff loomis doesnt ignore the rules at all. his playing is probably more harmonically complex than any other shredder today. his knowledge of theory. jeff is also one of the cleanest and most articulate. if by fuck ups you mean bum notes and sloppy playing, it doesnt lead to creativity it leads to annoying playing, crappy technique. crappy technique leads to a tool of expressing your self lost.

  • As always, some guitarist has to argue with anything I say. It gets pretty old.

He knows the rules, so do I, and other self taught guitarists. Knowing the rules is the first step in breaking them. I dont have sloppy playing and Im not expressing myself lost. Every player is different. Thats why ppl love the guitar. By fuck ups I mean accidental harmonics, like fretboard harmonics not natural or artificial harmonics. Stepping out of a mode and making it interesting, all these things. Goddamnit.

  • using dissonance or melodies that dont have a real harmonic structure isnt fuckups. its done quite intentionally. when i hear fuck ups i think of strings ringing or bum notes.

  • This video is awesome...Jeff's a fuckin monster

  • correct me if im wrong but that song your arguing about at :40 is the final product not pslam of lydia or the river dragon has come

  • Indeed:

    0:40 - 1:36 = Final Product Solo

1:36 - 2:37 = The River Dragon Has Come Solo and Riff (NOT The Psalm of Lydia)

    2:38 - 4:10 = Born Riff, Chorus (2:53) and Solo (3:23)

    4:11 - 4:44 = This Godless Endeavor Crazy Rifs (5:40 in a song)

  • yea its like a jeff loomis highlight reel haha

  • absolutly top form

  • all hail jeff loomis, his solo album is one of the best things ive heard this (well last year) cant stop playing it, fuckin sicko player

  • 2:52 what the song?!

  • Born, its the chorus.

  • dude its frikin final product

  • i know, fucking awesome, i just printed the tab for that part

  • Jeff é Fodaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Nop...that's Final Product

  • Whats the song at :40? Sorry, Im new to this guy..but he rocks my damn socks off

  • ZomgOwnted, it's The River Dragon Has Come

  • final product

  • lol yeah that guy was way of with "psalm of lydia"....although psalm of lydia has got some face melting solos in it, i'd say even better than "river dragon has come"...anyways, Loomis is a freakin god.

  • 1:39 BLASPHEMY! KILL THAT FUCKER

  • what'd he say? I can't understand him

  • " The psalm of lydia!!! "

  • psalm of lydia? why'd he think that...that's "the riverdragon has come"

  • its funny because that guitar is based on a Warmoth guitar he built himself.

  • Well, theres a reason why you can't see the light Guitarfag. The answer lies within your name.

  • One kid in front was jacking off!!

  • It appears that Loomis is using the ENGL amps now.

  • Loomis is stupidly good, its so obvious that he was classically trained

  • first rule of classical training: you place the guitar on your left leg, not right (lefties are vise versa). Don't get me wrong, Jeff Loomis is better than the the idea of god in my opinion, but the only guy you can see that's obviously classically trained that's on par with loomis is Chris Broderick.

  • Jeff Loomis is strictly self-taught.

Besides, He's god, so he makes the rules ;).

  • Alot of electric guitarists use the classic position to play, it gives you better access to the fretboard.

  • and it simulates standing up since the guitar is on a slanted angle, which is sweet.

  • first rule: dont question the loomis

    dumbass

  • touche, salesman... well said.

  • hahahaha "psalm of lydia!" what a dumbass

  • 1:40 "psalm of lydia!! " aaahaha lol it's the river dragon has come dude

  • Good! Adaptation, Improvisation, but your weakness is not your technique. Do you believe that Jeff's being stronger or faster has anything to do with his muscles? Jesus Christ he's fast! Take a look at his neurokinetics, they're way above normal.

Don't think you are - know you are.

  • Technique wise he's good. But his sound doesn't do anything for me. I hear too many guitar players play the same kind of way. Stop and feel a note or two once in a while I say. I said what I had to say. Now give me a thumbs down.

  • You're entitled to your opinion, but there's no time to "stop and feel" when hellfire is raining from the sky and the apocalypse is dawning before your very eyes. i.e.- metal only rarely stops to smell the roses. It just doesnt often suit the song.

  • Skatrumpet is COMPLETELY right.

  • Completely understandable. Anyone can play fast if they practice long enough, but uniqueness is necessary in order to progress in the guitar community. How do you plan on standing out amongst the VAST sea of other guitarists? Mr Loomis is very talented and displays utterly astounding amounts of skill, but you can't pick him out of a crowd by listening to him. But whatever makes him happy is what is best for him, so it's best to let him play the way he wants to. If he wants to play fast, let him.

  • Well you judge him by watching these videos, right? You should listen to his Soloalbum any time. You'll hear that he isn't just a shred guitarist. And I think he has a unique style. You'll here that by listening to Nevermore and also his Soloalbum.

  • I have listened to nevermore etc. and my opinion still stands.

  • He sure loves the sweeps but atleast he is much better at it then a lot of these dudes who the kids like these days. He is about the only good guitarist on the scene these days that is more in with the new school.

  • I'm well-versed on Metal and it's subgenres. I'd have to say that Jeff Loomis does stand out. His vast material shines the most. His technical skill just complements it. On Nevermore's albums you will hear that none of the material is rehashed. They are currently working on their 8th studio album. This is an impressive feat for a band about 1/8th as popular as Metallica. Regardless, not everybody can play as great as him. Jason Becker comes to mind, but who wouldn't mind being compared to him?

  • Alright if you think he stands out thats fine. Thats your opinion, and it isnt going to change etc. But he doesn't stand out to me at all. I'm not pushing it down your throat or anything, I'm just saying i cant tell the difference.

  • He stands out, because he is alot better technique wise than 95% of metal guitarists from any other bands.

  • I guess you're right about that huh. haha

  • Well said

  • I disagree. I could pick out a Loomis solo instantly because he does have a unique sound. Maybe I have just listened to him long enough to be very familiar with his playing, but I cannot think of another guitarist who sounds like him. Sure there are tons of shred guitarists, but none sound exactly like loomis, especially when combining his rhythm guitar riffs with the soloing style.

  • I agree Loomis has a pretty distinct sound. In his solos and just during a chorus or verse. And like you pointed out....his clear superiority over most guitarists makes him stand out too

  • hopefully ill be like that one day... facts say jeff only tok guitar seriously at age 16, and back then he could sweep and tap and made his own songs and stuff... im fourteen and doing all of the above as well... maybe if i practice ill be doing something like that for jackson guitars... or shecter... but not esp, no offense... they have bad tone...

  • spoken like a true 14 year old..

  • lol

  • nah man id say i prefer schecter over esp but i prefer schecter over jackson too i like the meatier heavier tone annndddddd i like ibanez so dont say that im kissing schecters ass

  • lol

  • hahahaha true,

douche, not you lol , him

  • haha so true

  • LOL

is that the finger at 2:30

I wonder who thats directed at lol

  • At first i was thinking the same but i think that he doesnt mean it like fuck you, should mean something else...

i have seen him doing it infront of cameras and stuff, so i dont think its what we thought it was at first xD

  • lol i have no clue either.

  • My god! Either I'm deaf or I haven't noticed the diminished sweep at :26 seconds. JESUS!

  • God

  • i'm usually a death metal fan but jeff loomis is so awesome i just have to like him and his music...

  • Jeff's main influences outside of the shred stuff are death metal. His riffs often sound very death metal-esqe, especially on enemies of reality.

  • "For real, he's so creative indeed, I can't believe Megadeth turned him down on a position in the band.

    Hercules of guitars"

because hes 10 times the guitarist Dave is! haha. you cant have a backing guitarist who can shred the shit out of the lead guy. especially when everyone knows him as a guitar god.

  • then why did mustaine employ broderick?

    lol

just a thought... i'm not being a bastard

  • Exactly!

  • mustaine couldn't employ a 16 year old who can own him in every single way.

  • He was turned down because of his age.

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah great inspiration really good WOW MR LOOMIS ROCK!!!

  • I had this goddamn video favorited by 5 seconds in.

    JEFF LOOMIS IS MY GOD!!!

  • imlike.. Is that the beer, or hes better than nurifumi shima and malsmteen? and paul gilbert? and others. must be too drunk. unbelievable I say.

  • FUCK!! Ive seen part 1 and 2 of this shred fiasco and it still amazes me how much talent spews out of this metal god! The new solo album will be unbelievable im sure......if it ever comes out

  • lmao well said. Let's pray to the war machine that it does :P

  • hells yeah, hes wearin a dethklok shirt.

  • damn!! this guy needs to be noticed more!! loomis rules!@!

  • 3 cheers to the loominator

  • holy shit that beginning warm up run was intense

  • he could play that when he was 16

  • still sick as shit

  • Is that amp Engl Special Edition?

  • i think it looks more like blackmore.. but yeah its prob a special edition

  • oh nvm it's Final Product.

  • what was the first song's name? (when he taps)

  • Final Product..:) awesome song and amazing solo....sounds scary and creepy....awesome

  • Hahaha, I love when the guy in front of you says 'It's Psalm of lydia!' It's River Dragon!!!!

  • I know you don't mean that you literally "love" him, but I just wanna throw the fact out there that I think he's a dumbass and doesn't deserve to be so close to the great Jeff Loomis. Nevermore for ever!

  • Jeff Loomis man!!!!!!BOOOOOOORRRRNNNNNNNN!!!!DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!!!!

  • Jeff is a god,Dethklok FTW!

  • fucking drum machine is too loud!!!!

  • O cara esbanja CriatividADE.

    MUITO FODA. UM SEMI-DEUS

  • For real, he's so creative indeed, I can't believe Megadeth turned him down on a position in the band.

    Hercules of guitarres.

  • He auditioned for Megadeth when he was 16, after Jeff Young left the band.

  • i like the shirt

  • fucking amazing

  • that was brutal!

  • I'm almost too afraid to watch this all the way through but also too afraid not to

  • That's great...@0@

  • Amazing!

  • Only $199 more until that guitar is mine :] And I'm lovin his shirt :]

  • I now own three Loomis guitars. I bought one of the first when it was introduced, a second last month, and my first Loomis fixed bridge. The build quality at the price point is unbelieveble. I blows Hellraiser 7 out of the water. Enjoy it!

  • Even though it's based of the Hellraiser C7, it blows it out of the water? Sweet. I want the Loomis C7 WITHOUT the floyd rose. Where did you get yours? I can't find anyone who has it...

  • It does indeed. I've played guitar for 20 yrs and had plenty. The Hellraiser and the Loomis have LITTLE in common other than being 7s and having EMGs. I purchased all mine locally [in Ohio] at Guitar Ranch in Findlay. You can contact them and order anything you wish. George [from the store] will set it up to your specs. $979 Floyd and $779 Fixed.

  • Just curious, but do you like the FR or the fixed bridge loomis better?

  • Good question. The FR model is great because of the versatility offered by the tremolo. My thinking is you don't HAVE to use it, but you can't add one if you don't have it. That being said, I think the fixed is a simpler more straighforward instrument with a slight increase in overall tone. Ultimately I think what matters the most is how often do you use a trem in your playing, and what does your style dictate. When you realize that, the decision becomes easy.

  • People have actually been asking me to post videos with the Loomis. And I will be doing so in the near future. I have recently stopped using traditional tube amps [my Peavey XXX is up for sale by the way] and will be using Line 6 products [either HD147 or Vetta II] exclusively. My vids will range through shred based covers, original material, and finally technical development and theory. My first website will also launch in August as well.

  • Another thing about the FR model is that you can't change tunings cause the strings are locked. That's why I'm getting the non-trem model.

  • Another thing about the FR model is that you can't change tunings cause the strings are locked. That's why I'm getting the non-trem model.

  • Very true. For myself, I tune exclusively to Eb, so that isn't an issue for me. But, if you're interested in altered tunings [and who's to say you aren't] then a fixed bridge will resist any significant change due to changes in string tension.

Also, one thing I failed to say, it comes standard with 10s and FOUR springs in the trem, and 26.5" scale, so the FR is TIGHT! The fixed has slightly lower playing tension.

  • oh, well that's a shame, cause I like my strings TIGHT, but I also change tunings a ton, so I'll have to go with the non-trem.

  • :-( I said only "slightly". The fixed still has 10s factory standard and the 26.5" scale [an extra inch] and you REALLY feel the tension! And the neck is as wide as the deck of an aircraft carrier so it has a lot of mass behind it. I've played EB/MM Petrucci, Ibanez of every type and model, Fender Malmsteen, etc, etc. NO guitar has ever offered this many features and build quality at the price. You'll be VERY happy.

  • I'm so excited I can't stand it. I don't know if

I can wait the 71 days for it (June 14, my birthday). I'm trying to decide what the first riff I will play on it is going to be...

  • why the first few bars of 'born' ofcourse! :D

  • The store has a website and email address if you'd like to pursue the guitar. And so I don't come across as I'm favoring, Drum City and Guitarland [in CO] has them as well. I personally believe in Guitar Ranch, and I know that Geo would take care of 'ya. If you did contact them, tell 'em Shane sent you.

  • It's funny, there's another guy on You Tube who has the Loomis 7 and he recommended Drum City Guitar Land to me. So now I'm torn. But on Jeff Loomis's website, he recommends DCGL. So I may have to go with them (They also give you a lot of free shit with purchase).

  • I understand, and that's ok. I bought a John Petrucci 6 from DCGL and was very happy with it. As for Guitar Ranch, I am good friends with the owner and he treats everyone fantastic. Likewise, he is also the tech, and a grad of GIT. He is also a live working and touring musician...and his setups reflect his experience, his knowledge of what players want. I don't mean to further confuse because each are fantastic retailers. DCGL just has a higher profile because of their numbers.

  • Yeah, it's cool. I don't know anything really about either place, so your input is great. At Guitar Ranch, do thay set up the guitar to your exact specs before shipping to you? Cause at DCGL, they put on the exact gauge string you want, put in the tuning you want, adjust the action for you, and give you free shit.

  • Oh yes, the Ranch doees any setup [gauge of string, brand, tuning, etc]. But, like you said, the SWAG is where DCGL gets you. But, in the long run, a few picks, a shirt [which usually winds up being extra large] only goes so far.

With mine, I had it tuned to Eb from E, I had the action lowered a tad, I wanted Ernie Ball strings, and the neck with zero relief...and Geo did it.

  • That's true (even though I do wear XLs), but if they both do the same things, AND DCGL gives you free stuff, they do have an edge. But I'm not arguing, it's not a big deal. I guess I'll have to decide where to buy in June. At least I know there are two good places to choose from. Thanks.

  • one final question from me. What do you mean when you say "neck with zero relief"? Is that the bow of the truss rod?

  • That's exactly what I mean. Some players like a little "relief"...essentially a "dip" in the middle of the neck. Personally, I think relief makes the neck harder to play fast [both linear runs as well as arpeggios], and so I have a completely flat neck on all my guitars. It's all a matter of preference. And the questions don't bother me; music has been my life for a LONG time. I'm glad I can share.
