That is indeed sloppy journalism. As Introller says, Wallenberg did not die in 1945 and almost certainly not in 1947 either. One day perhaps the Russians will tell the truth about his fate.

Wallenberg did not die in 1945. He was arrested by the Red Army in January 1945 and was held captive there until he died in prison which no one knows the year because the Soviets lied about his presence there for decades. Eyewitnesses spotted and conversed with him in 1948, 1953, 1959, 1963, 1975, and 1979. Even the Soviets allege that he died in 1947. Not 1945.
