  • the problem is he signed alot of these rights away to the producers at the time he recorded these songs, so he has no legal claim to them, if you watch interviews he says its ne of his biggest regrets, signing away a good portion of his work... its too bad for some of his biggest fans that would kill to have songs like this on their ipod, actually attributed to elton, without pretense....

  • I agree that elton must have TONS of unreleased stuff in his past!Good stuff

  • I think I die and went to heaven Elton fans UNITE lol

  • Yeah, this IS rare,

    I've NEVER heard this before.....

    GREAT SONG!!!!

  • Boy his classic stuff is SO GOOD. Why can't we have all this great music?

  • Not a bad song, considering that Elton didn't think he was very good at writing lyrics :)

  • Elton, and Bernie should consider giving all their early songs a legitimate release. A wealth of unreleased material exists, and putting it in an historical context, and perspective, would shed light on their ability to write, and record. The recent release of such demos on the "Deluxe Editions" of Elton's second, and third LP's bears this out. Would love to hear "Swan Queen Of The Laughing Lake", and "The Girl On Angel Pavement" before I'm too old to give a damn!

  • Among the 'die-hard' collectors, these Dick James demos have been around for decades. This song in fact was on a renegade LP around 1975-76 by the same title. I tried to buy this album through "Rare Records' in Chapel Hill, NC...but never recieved it! But a good friend of mine in New Jersey sent me cassette of the songs shortly after he got his copy. The sound quality was atrocious, but because of the rare nature of the songs, who could complain at the time.

  • this is when he was in bluesology

  • He must have sang constantly in the next two years ('67 - '69) in order to get his incredible sound nailed down. He does sound green on this one.

  • This is a demo with no finishing in the studio because it was never released which is why it sounds a bit unprofessional

  • Actually, I think he's surprsingly close to the polished, professional sound we all know.

  • I agree, even though it's only demo quality, his signature sound is still evident.

  • this is before empty sky?... what album was this on.

  • i like this one. That's how I sounded when I was young. ha ha. You can hear that high-voice repeat chorus doo wop background stuff Elton does on some of his songs,...not anymore though.

  • I like this song. I shall have this one stuck in my head now. :)

  • heehee he's so green
