Coverdale is one of the best singers in history... so deep... strong... one of a kind... hey by the way if u have any chance look at my version of love aint no stranger... coverdale is an idol!! Keep em coming girl!
Really? I thought I'd provide more cynicism to people's days. Don't know whether I should consider it a good or a bad thing. :P
Hahaha, I always think it's funny when singers forget the words. Makes me feel slightly better for fucking up the words in the comfort of my own home. XD
As or girls in general, I have no idea. All of my friends except for one are guys. XD And they're all used to my music taste.... sort of. I've converted a couple of them to a few bands in the meantime though, haha.
Excellent stuff Becky!! I saw Whitesnake on the Slide It In Tour in Birmingham and the highlight of the show was Cozy Powells drum solo, which included massive fireworks and pyro's shooting out of his kit! The Snake were always a treat live every time i saw them and they knew how to put on a show, no mistake! :D
I never get tired of watching the video of Cozy's legendary drum solo, but I soooooooooooooooo wish I could've seen it for real! Sigh! You're far too lucky for my liking, Nigel. :P Seeing both my heroes Coverdale and Powell! Far too lucky!
Hahaha at this point i could gloat about how many times i've seen Mr.Coverdale and Cozy but i'm FAR too nice a guy hehe...I only saw Richie Blackmore once at the first ever Donington Monsters of Rock festival in 1980 (with Cozy on drums) and he was mesmerising, he had a real presence about him; very strange and captivating!!
You're not the only one to gloat about Cozy.... at the Southampton Record Fair today I had a nice chat with a bloke who's seen him twice with the 'Snake and once with Schenker.... why has everyone had a cooler life than me? XD And yet I still bought an Ian Gillan album off him despite my jealousy! XD
Ah Becky its easy to look back with rose-coloured glasses at the rock past. For every great gig i saw, i saw at least ten crap ones, many bands sucked unspeakably XD
I saw Gillan lots of times too. But my mate made me dead jealous when he got back stage at a Gillan gig up north, where he met all the band plus the support bands, one member of whom (White Spirit) went on to stardom with Iron Maiden, namely Janick Gers, and he got given free food and beer by Ian Gillan himself, lucky bastard :)
I don't care that you saw more shit gigs that good ones, because you've still seen more good ones than I have. XD And you're not helping by saying you've seen Gillan too! I have a couple of tour programmes from his early 80s gigs, but it's just not the same. :P
Haha oh dear i'm just digging a deeper hole (shit indie band) for myself aren't i? Erm how about Reading Festival 1980 where i spent 3 days in a muddy field freezing my bollocks off, and in all that time only saw 4 or 5 good bands (one of which was Gillan, sorry couldn't resist! hehehe ;-)
The good bands make up for the lousy conditions. XD Do you know how many times I've been in perfect temperatures, comfy as can be with the musical equivilent of eating a bowlful of glass playing in the background?! Oy fucking vey! XD
Haha yes you're right seeing a great band makes you forget about the heat/cold, but when the sound is lousy there is nothing worse. Festivals especially when the wind take the sound away, its like who turned the volume knob down.
Reading 1980 Slade's Noddy Holder: "Is it loud enough for ya? No? Wally crank it up to 10!!"...ah i feel about 3 million years old now! XD
How about we try and focus on the good times where the conditions and the music is super-awesome? XD I know it's ever so much fun for incredibly British pessimists like us to moan-and-groan about all the shitty things in life (and hell, is that fun!!! :D) but it'll probably be better in the long run if we sort of pretend to think happy thoughts. XD XD XD
Agreed :D OK happy memories then (happy in February?? how very un-British!! haha): Gloucester Guildhall summer 1982, and Gillan is about to hit the stage. Its hotter than satans underpants in here but no one cares,. The band launch into "Unchain Your Brain" and the next 90 minutes is a blur of freaking out and air guitaring (i'm a lefty btw :) The next day i feel like i've been in a train wreck. I have severe whiplash for the next 2 weeks but i'm happy. Very, very happy. Howzat? XD XD XD
That is epicness on toast right there! And you're a fellow left-handed air guitarist! If I could high-five you right now, I would. XD
(And now I've got "Howzat" by Sherbet in my head....)
And yes, I am happy in February for a change (yes, how un-British!) because I just bought a ticket to see Europe in a few weeks time! My mission to kidnap John Norum could be nearly completion. :P
your videos are super cool, plus i totally dig the accent, ;) , btw since your british, do you like benediction? i know it is a stretch but i thought i'd ask :P

Really good song, really good cover. Cool Powell t-shirt.

Aw, thank you. :) And thank you even more for complimenting the t-shirt. It's covered by the waistcoat, but underneath it says "What Would Cozy Do?"
