Also, to say that religion is the root of evil in the world is an absolute aberration of truth - if you bothered to read the beliefs of many religions you'll see that they are meant to bring peace to the world - and for many it's only religion that gives meaning to our existence. The beginning of the film asks a very subtle but very relevant question - why mess with another culture by trying to enforce ones faith/religion on that people ?? had they been left alone, the natives wud have probably defended themselves well - all over the world, these jokers spreading the word of god whom none can see, speak to or hear in PERSON, have created mayhem and continue to do so!

overall, a brilliant film! and an even more brilliant score!

am not a christian, in the sense christianity is being interpreted/understood globally - but otherwise, am a christian, a muslim, a jew, a hindu, a zoarastrian, a sikh and belong to every other religion under the sun! simply put, i am a part of a species called Homo sapiens - what is reqd for the world today is a rational understanding of religions - if religions/scriptures cannot accept scientifically proven facts, then they should simply be done away with or relegated to the annals of fiction

I never said religion makes good kind of unity. You obviously agree there is some kind of unifying and that unity brings hatred towards other religion. I do not in any way shape or form acclaim religion. Religion is often the root of every war and evilness. I agree with everything that you say, and I don't know about you, but I think strong religious believers are ignorant.

OTOH, we cannot do away with religion! its been with us way too long, and hence the way to handle it would be to explain religion in a very rational way - might sound like an oxymoron, since religion and rationality might not go together - but only a rational explanation of religion will help us in understanding the same and help misuse of the same

What does that even mean?? Christians believe in Jesus Christ, who was one Person and two Natures: human and divine, and is one Person out of three that make up the Trinity God. A Muslim believes in only Allah as God (not Trinity). Zorastrian's believe in a monotheistic deity which is transcedent. A Sikh believes in one God that is immanent. None of these religions are similar, other than we classify them, loosely, as religions.

Of course some religions accept scientific fact - Christians even invented the scientific process - what is needed is the understanding that there is more to this existence than we can ever comprehend, and just believe you can't PROVE something empirically doesn't mean it's not REAL (for instance, prove that your mom loves you). You're limiting your own ability to understand the world immensely if you will only judge things on what you can see and taste and touch.

if one cannot prove something, then anyone can say anything based on one's fertile imaginative powers fooling everyone around - when religious beliefs based on scriptures collide with scientifically proven facts (ex., fossil evidence completely negating the creation theory of how life was 'created' a few thousand years ago), its a big problem - is religion prepared to do away with claims that are not based on facts ? science is inherently self-critical & continously evolves correcting itself
