They may as well be training in boxing...that’s the most skill-less fighting system in existence. Ba Gua chang is the most comprehensive fighting system ever developed. If you are really good, then only a few motions are enough to end the fight.
@ammachi3 I think the standard could be better but I know a couple of guys that competed are very skilled. Not all of the competers were flailling their arms etc. Also, I agree Bagua Zhang is a great system.
@tlock2005 Yeah some of them executed some nice moves...but really just %99 flailing : )
Yes...Bagua is the most comprehensive. It takes the best bits of Taiji quan and Xing yi quan & Yi quan. Most people who have been doing internal martial arts for many years or decades usually say the same thing; that Bagua quan is the best.
Also, have you heard of Bruce Frantzis? He seems to know a lot. But he is really, really, really egotistical.
@tlock2005 I met him in Reading, UK. Was just blabbing on about the same things. “Earth element grounds you...blah, blah, blah...”Got board and walked out. But he does have a high level of development. His presence is very strong. He has done a lot of mediation. He can read people’s thoughts and other physic stuff. Also, he was very offensive to someone who asked a perfectly reasonable question. Basically told him he was stupid. But his website and videos are worth looking through.
Also...a guy called Alex Kozma is really worth checking out...He has written a really amazing autobiography called ‘Beyond the Mysterious Gate’. He also has some other really good books that are really worth reading. My local groups (about six of us) trained with his master...a gut called Surge Aguirre (not sure of the exact spelling). But my reacher trained with Alex many times and he was as hard as nails. But his teacher is on a different level altogether. Read his books and you will see.
@ammachi3 I really like Bagua as well but I've only learnt a tiny amount. I know of Bruce Kumar Frantzis and he definately seems to have a great amount of skill. I've been to seminars to learn Bagua from both Alex Kozma and Serge Augier (Separate occasions). And I also, have one of Kozma's books, Warrior Guards the Mountain, which I really like :)
@tlock2005 Yeah...Bagua seems to be the one art that people eventual progress to and say is the best...that Bruce guy made me feel sick the way he spoke to people. So I personally did not want to learn from him. But Alex and Serge seem to be decent enough people. They also have real skill.
@ammachi3 I can't comment on Bruce Kumar Frantzis as I've never had a chance to meet him, but I've had great experiences with both Alex and Serge (Great skill and friendly as well).
No skill whatsoever...they are just failing their arms and legs about like madmen...none of them are really centred, as is evident from how easy they are to take down. Some of them were even taking themselves down to the floor. Ridiculous. They were all thinking to long about what to do. You should not think at all.
