Just so everybody knows, you need to go to the market because the marker is way off and then you will find the murderer.

you can kill him in the market square at 2-3am when he is about to murder the woman , after you can rinse his shop and sell the goodies to einfer at winterhold college .

Doesn't work properly though. You can have the quest completed but go to Herjim the house is a bloody mess still. And the murderer is still alive living in his curiousity shop.

I was stuck at the catch a thief stage where the dude will not leave Herjim even if you're complete on the patrol the streets stage. And I can't buy the house, not that I would want it after all the murders in their. And I'm about to ransack the place with the imperials.
