  • Why cut off the last minute of the song?

  • David Gilmour yes kicks ASS with the Floyd

  • she´s calling from the deep

summoning my soul to endless sleep

she´s boumd to drag me down, drag me down

  • great song!!!

  • some called it GRUNGE - is`nt it !???

  • pretty sure they heard some early sabbath at some point and came up with this... for those who dont know sabbath was around at this point and playing clubs that floyd played...i think its just a point they made. any thing you can do we can too... its not as cool or hard as the sabath but considering the time it was made it pretty awsome and too me says they could produce andy sound that they wanted

  • Its more like grunge than metal, but still...

  • Agree with many comments here. I will add that the whole album has been under-rated, but is, according to me, a master piece of PF...

  • 1:09 JESUS CHRIST!!!!

  • unfuckingbelievable !!!

  • MORE ART MORE FLOYD!

  • i think the nile song is the granddaddy of heavy metal

  • fuckin sick i cant believe this is floyd

  • in 1968 heavy metal was born in earth.

  • This song is like the birth of punk & metal. Very under rated.

  • One of my fave Floyd tracks

  • The Nile Song, Young Lust & Not Now John <3

  • They were so far ahead of their time

  • this is defintly one of the pre-coursors to punk rock.

  • Voivod's version is even better . . . .

  • Pink Floyd invented grunge. xD

  • the most underrated of all, even with all the postive comments here...probably the best band ever...

  • yes both British but this is my cup of tea ..

  • Awesome! 'More' is my favorite Pink Floyd album behind 'The Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Meddle'.

  • very well!!!!!!

  • By far the heaviest of all PF songs, and one of their best at that.

  • so modern! :P

  • OUCH! That HURT! Howz come ya cut it off during that cool git solo? :(

  • this, black sabbath, helter skelter achilles last stand - these 4 songs invented heavy metal

  • Why does it all got to be so terribly loud? For me, frankly, its too loud. I just can't bare it. I happened to have grown up with the string quartet which is a bit softer. So, uh, why does it got to be so loud?

  • @Gold753

I see what you did there.

  • Sounds like Jimmy Hendrix

  • Who was the singer in this song?

  • @giovedark david gilmour offcourse

  • from the movie more

  • This song kicks ASS.

  • mabee not the first but the sure as hell put their name in the basket

  • possibly the first hard rock song ever

  • Boobs

  • wats up at 0:56? looks anti semtic to me

  • They are waving..... It's just the camera angle

  • o haha

  • GOOD!! SO JUST SHUT UP!!!

  • This song came out in 1969. Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild and Iron Butterfly's Ina Gadda Da Vida and The Beatles Helter Skelter all came out in 1968. So, yeah, one of the first metal songs, but definitely not the first. I wouldn't classify Led Zeppelin as a metal band. I see them more as being blues. Jimmy Page even said that he hated people calling Zep a metal band, but to each their own.

  • @woody2327 -- This song is the first of its kind to actually sound a lot like the heavy metal that would come twenty years later.

  • @greatsea

you can add the grunge ...

  • One of the first metal songs? I think so.

  • Some people even refer to this song as the first metal song. Its having of metal elements (such as loud vocals, driving drums and riff, and it also has that little extra edge) and the time period for which it came out have people considering this song plus Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to be the first showings of real metal.

  • remember deep Purple's In Rock, man, one of the most heavy albums of the 70s..

  • Yeahhh? And this was 60s!!!!

  • i'd say blue cheer were the 1st Metal band but Led zepplein and Black Sabbath made it noticed as a distinct sub genre

  • It so fucking hard core this song, its sound like the predecessor to heavy metal songs.

  • @phoneix91 made in 1969

  • @phoneix91 right it!!

  • @phoneix91

    I'd say of PUNK!

  • @phoneix91 this song is sooo ahead of it's time. Nirvana could have sung this in the 90s....its like 30 years ahead of it's time.

  • this song is FUCKING badass.

  • this is from the album MORE!It is a soundtrack from the movie MORE.

  • One of the best Floyd albums.Atom Heart Mother is still the best!

  • i think this is from relics :/

  • boobs

  • Canadian progressive thrash metal band - Voivod did a very good cover of this.

  • This, Careful with that Axe Eugene, etc. were ahead of it's time.

  • those, and beatles helter skelter, I can see for miles, and led zepplin, black sabbath, iron butterfly, ect., where all rejected for their heaviness

  • I have this LP. More soundtrack

  • Comment removed

  • The song: Way ahead of its time. Heavy shit must have scared some folks back in the days.

  • My god. The solo is sooooooooo psychedelic

  • what a song (:

you guys can check out the cover on my page

  • this song is good

  • This has always been my favorite song to jam on! :-)

  • I challenge anyone to point me to a song WRITTEN BEFORE THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN that has this particular sound. In other words, what song stands as a possible influence on this one? And just as an incidental note, it is the existence of songs like this as far back as 1969 that makes me wonder what people mean by insisting so much on "Smells Like Team Spirit"'s novelty.

  • Ever heard Hendrix doing "Wild Thing"?

  • Well, yes, and I understand what you are saying, but there is something about "The Nile Song" that literally leaps nearly 20 years ahead like no other song that I've yet heard before it was made. Of course it was influenced by precursors but there is a very forward looking heavy metal sound in it that I simply can't find before it.

  • backing is so sabbath

    superb

  • WHAT!

  • oh yermate even one of the reply says so ,notice you like led zeppelin my dad was head roadie at the zeppelin knebworth shows aug 4 aug 11 1979 and he worked for freddie bannister promoter and new jones very well and he says the backing on this song sounds like sabbath have a nice day

  • @ozrics62 crap! syd says it sucks, and IT DOES!

  • @cgundddd Syd Barret only started Pink Floyd man he didn't make it what it is, talented as he was he was just a frickin' Looney. Gilmour and Waters, and a little behind the scenes but most of all Wright made Pink Floyd what is now universally accepted as 'Pink Floyd'. So just shut up will you.

  • very cool..i'm not sure who's singing this tho

  • It's David who's singing this.

  • yes

  • David

  • To be exact: Sexy David! *RawR*

  • oh hell yeah.

I can just imagine sexy young dave gilmour with his long hair and luscious lips belting out these tunes.

  • Yeah, he was absolutely delicious in the 70-ties, wasn't he! Btw I still think he's incredible hot!

  • So do I, and obviously Kate Moss, did you check her out hanging all over David as she sang Summertime. I was jealous !!

  • Hehehe, yeah I saw the article and a whole bunch of photo's from that event (I'm a member of special David board, members only, and we collected more then 25 pics of the event). You're not the only one who was jealous!!! My god, wat a slutty performance that was of Kate, she was practicly drooling all over him! ;-)

  • Where can i find a girl that thinks like you ?!?!?! lol

  • Is that Roger at 0.16.... He looks like an old woman!!! lol

  • Are you crazy ? Or maybe too much dope...

  • is there any conection beteewn nile song and ibiza bar?

  • Yeah - More

  • I'm guessing "The Nile Song" and "Ibiza Bar" had to be recorded at the same session, or were created from the same jam the band was rocking out on, thus turning them into two songs.

  • cool!ROCKS!

  • WHOLE LOTTA FLOYD....!!!

  • Heavy Metal Pink Floyd !!!!

  • The most rock Pink floyd song ever!
