He famously called the '97 Penske chassis shit on live TV, which isn't something most drivers would have the balls to do. It doesn't matter if he couldn't make it in F1 either, that's a completely different kind of racing.

@jraybay Formula One cars of the modern era are nothing like Champ cars of the same period. They were naturally aspirated, produced about 200 more horsepower, and weighed 500 pounds less. Not to mention they used paddle shift gearboxes, and those teams spend a lot more on races then they did in Champ Car. Tracy isn't so much an asshole, he just doesn't sugar coat stuff. He speaks his opinions truthfully, and that's rare for a racing driver, and I admire that even on TV, he'll speak up.

Well, you've got to remember that because a driver sits so low, he can't see the nose of the car. He probably didn't know there was anything in front of his car until about :25 in the video, when the air started to lift it, it probably either wedged under a front tire, or jammed the steering.

Irl is substandard racing compared to Indy car. Go to Mosport instead and watch the American Lemans Series. Free parking and you can walk around the whole track with a beer in your hand.

They also have lots of great open wheel racing as supporting events

Considering that North American Open Wheel racing was almost history if not being threatened as I type this, I am quite happy with the way things turned out, I miss C.A.R.T. that was my first ever live event in Toronto (Molson Indy) at the time, loved the different courses they went to, but if we as fans don't embrace IRL then you can consider North American Open Wheel Racing a thing of the past, I hope everybody likes F1 because that might be all that is left if that without the fans

Pppffffttt ... This current version of "Indycar" is nothing but a parasite series. The CART Indycar series was alive and thriving, even with new chassis/motors coming out every year. Now there is one outaded/slow/low tech car, and people are complaining about the cost. The Indy 500 is a shadow of itself, this new "vision" of Indycar is terrible. Amazes me how much more interesting the CART era Indycar was compared to the new "Indycar" .. Tony George needs to go away. Today's Indycar is garbage

F1 cars are not what they used to be, to many winglets and all spidery looking. but are a damned sight better than those butt-ugly Dallara's the IRL uses. God those things look like rolling whales. Champcar had the nicest cars for the longest time. The Reynard, the Lola were all beautiful, and the DP01 was a real nice looking machine as well. Bummer the series is gone.

I think they looked better a few years ago, but the new aero package will be an improvement. Slicks, less winglets, all that good stuff. Although the higher, narrower rear wing looks strange. Like I say though, they are a damned sight better than those butt ugly Dallaras.
