This and Warriors are an excellant view into a fantasy gang world set in a dystopia setting. The music here and in the warrior capture it brilliantly. JC was way ahead of his time.
John Carpenter surely has a great ability to compose good music for movies. His theme of the 1978 horror classic Halloween is another example. Actually, I had no idea that he composed the music for this film until about eight or nine years ago. Neat music and video! I had the DVD for this.
@kenpalmer1965 I agree with you completely, and i would add that i just listened to the soundtrack for the 05 remake, and it was dreadful compared to this
I thought the part when he shot the little girl was so brutal, but I understand why they did it. Shows the brutality of our nature. I love the theme song though! Escape From New York was another Carpenter classic. Love it!
@prizum81 the girl/ice cream scene was actually a lesson to all...dont complain about a mix up with your food/order. in most cases you will just get a lougie in return...but this girl got a bullet.
watch "they live" by john carpenter, it has a hidden truth to it that most people dont think twice about
This is a re-recorded version released by Silva Screen Records (now Silva America) in 1993, performed by Daniel Caine. He just cleaned it up, prob w/digital gear. Great track though.
@BrenMcGuire1 thats kind of what i mean you know, early 90's were fine but like you said, i probably mean late 90's early 2000's that were lacking in all departments
Great Soundtrack, GREAT MOVIE!

Carpenter is a fuckin' genius, how simple is this track, and how much more powerful than a lot of orchestral scores, especially nowadays?

@Boid55 for me the 90's were pretty bad i didnt like the music or the clothes (thats when i look back, at the time i didnt realise)
nayzomarsh10 1 year ago
@nayzomarsh10 The 90's was just like the 80's a very good decade. It's worse these days, the last 4-5 years has been really poor on good movies.
