I have a few questions. I have a bushmaster XM15 and I love the way it looks and shoots. I do have a dilemma though, I want to use optics like you are using in your video. The problem is that I got the version that had a front sight post, so i do not know how well a sight would actually work. How do you find this set up to work?
@modeltrain9500 If you notice, this AR also has the front A2 sight. The eotech I have mounted is a 100% co-witnessed sight which means if I have the backup rear sight flipped up and use the iron sights, the holographic sight will be directly inline with it. But with the awesomeness that is the holographic sight, all I have to do is move my head up just a little bit and the holosight floats ontop of the front sight not getting in the way. Works great!
@trusonmc Its actually a knock-off of a name brand one. But i'm not sure exactly who makes the real one. sry. If you notice though I do not use it in a traditional way. I only use it as a guide to place my hand around the heat guard (RIS). Actually, now, I don't use it at all b/c I have modified my grip to more of a competition stance where my reaction hand is wrapped all the way around the RIS.
@trusonmc the name of that forward grip is called a "Grip Pod" if u check out the videos on my page u will see i have one on my rifle. They cost about $100
@FrankieFigz86 yeah i finally got one for my xm-15 but i think I only paid about 30 dollars for it at a gun show and its been doing good so far. I looked at a lot of them online first, and they all range from 15 to 200 dollars, depending on brand basically and minor quality differences.
I'm a shallow guy when it comes to rifles and I only go for looks, not performance. xD I like the look of the muzzle flash on your particular rifle, and I was wondering if you used a muzzle break or some sort of flash compensator.
@Blemo23 It is a YHM Compensator/Brake. I am not sure that they ever made it by itself. This one is pinned onto the barrel so I cannot remove it. It appears to have only come on a few models of AR-15's. But I am not sure about that.
Grippod is the actually brand, hard to find and very expensive and lots of knock offs sold in there place. The company is also dicks as there suing anyone that makes anything similar.
Great Video!

Is that a grip pod i see? Nice build you have there.
e5mikey 2 years ago
Yes it is a grip pod. Although I do not handle it. Only use it as a stabilizing guide. I wrap my reaction hand around the barrel for max stability.

Nice video. I hope that i can get my hands on an ar-15 soon.
