Alright, my conclusive theory for people preferring certain decades is as follows: we are too lazy to look for new stuff, whether it is older or newer than our decade. Seriously, decades do not produce music. It is just we are phlegmatic [lazy] because we know that researching something the media does not feed us is hard work with no sure reward, so it is easier to play safe and do not look for gems one himself would like. We forget that even in the beginning, developing the taste took time.
@studioolympe I personally know lots of kids who hate today's music and are very impressed when they hear 90s music.
It's actually a fact that there is much less heart among many artists today, I'm a very experienced musician myself so I know quality music when I hear it.
It's the same with cartoons as well by the way - Dick Dastardly & Muttley and DuckTales are quite obviously loads better than anything you see on Cartoon Network these days.

This song was sung by my youngest daughter - Julie Ann while she was still in elementary, I enjoyed the tune, now she is on her 20's and a nurse, and I would surely remember my Julie w/ this song.
I was born on 1990 and I was young during the 90s, but this is the music I listen the most. It is just wonderful. Music will never be the same again, but don't worry - the music from the 90s will last forever and my kids will listen it.

@studioolympe I like music from the 80's because it's the music of my youth, but I would take disco over the shit they're playing today. It does suck, nothing compares to the diversity we had in the 90's either.

This song was sung by my youngest daughter - Julie Ann while she was still in elementary, I enjoyed the tune, now she is on her 20's and a nurse, and I would surely remember my Julie w/ this song.

I was born on 1990 and I was young during the 90s, but this is the music I listen the most. It is just wonderful. Music will never be the same again, but don't worry - the music from the 90s will last forever and my kids will listen it.

@BmwX3MSport yes I totally agree many countries have killed their music industries with reality tv shows like crap factor and pop stars to name a few while they make great TV for some they Just show that we need to create artists even if they have no talent.
In the 1980's (the era I was born) and 1990's a good majority of the music produced was written by the aritist or band and not by the record company.

I always feel sad when I hear Ace of Base songs. They remind me of my childhood friends and everything childish we did back then. Of innocence and simplicity. Gosh, they were the most wonderful and happiest times of my life. Just now, it saddens me a lot to know that I'll never get those days back. Back then I know all of their songs by heart.
