The Quran specifacally states in Chapter 35:24 that A messenger has been sent to a place everywhere at all times since the beginning of man all the way up to Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). This meens that there has to be more than the 26 Prophets mentioned in the Quran, because they all were in the east, what about all the people in the west, did Allah forget about them? Nope, he sent messengers to them also! And the Hadith Narrate it is 124,000-300,000. Hope i Helped, Salaam!
