  • i heard it from westbrook while in CPS and it broke a windows.

  • that was scary!! i was in school at goliad and we had an old lady as a sub that day and when it happpend she didnt even notice! lol

  • oh man i remember that happening. i was in the jr. high when it exploded.

  • It was a destillation tower that was overfilled , they didnt have any working level control on the tower and they didnt have any torch on that refinery .

  • This is one of the reasons refinery workers make good money.

  • i remember that the shock wave was so massive i felt it over in snyder my dad whos the fire chief of snyder had to go help and ifght the fire

  • holy-terrorist:> is that undiscovery holy-terrorist the real hacker

  • Back when Fina ran this plant, there were many fires there, on average 1 a month. Most were the "small" kind. The cracker busted open once. The equipment hasn't changed much since then till this explosion.

I hauled many loads of asphalt and emulsion from this plant, I am glad that injuries were few.

I lived in a small town 15 miles south of town then, and my work had me going into this plant many times. No big deal, but the equipment was old then too. Time to upgrade the plants, I think.

  • Most people aren't aware except those families affected that the oil industry, world wide, has an appalling safety record. Norway having the best safety record Nigeria the worst. US oil companies are guilty of killing and maming thousands of it's citizens in accidents. No consolation for the poor people caught in this one though...sad

  • yea i wish i work there you can make a decent living working on oil refineries.

  • THAT'S FOUR MORON

  • though i want to go to new york since it is cool i like america, but we will not hallow you. got it.

  • hey dudes america is a good place but we people are NOT going to hallow you or be your slave and worship you bitch, so suck your fucken ball and shut your mouth. WE WILL NEVER WORSHIP YOU.

  • I am from Big Spring and the explosion was a major thing. But as usual in America we all pulled together and made the best of a situation. God was watching over Big Spring the day of the explosion.

  • america sux !

  • Ya, fuck you, frogeater! NTM!!

  • stfu u twat ! ur country sux like hell

  • why do you think America sucks, huh?

if we weren't there for you, Germany would still rule Europe so shut the fuck up you snail and frog eating bitch and get on your knees and hallow us!

  • And you can't spell. With such skills lacking, how can you know much about anything else?

  • Just because i live in a wonderful country that goes and helps other countries get thier shit straight and help after major disaters, don't go hating on us. America Rules.

  • 4 miles is too close as well.. You could feel the explosion 40 miles away..

  • I felt ur mom 4000 miles away when she fell down the stairs ( jokes just had to say it) :)

  • My brother lives like 4 miles away from that refinery.

  • Well goddamn can't I just share a story?

  • God did not need a dam to walk on water

  • I'm sure glad no one was Killed=<

  • it shook the hell out of my house!

  • man the shockwave was crazy... i know all the people that were injured too.

  • WHY !!!

  • And because of this, oil prices rise. Insane!

  • I have felt shockwaves as bad as that in the USAF..... you do not want to be anywhere near that within 50 miles....

  • I lived there in big springs 4 years ago, I wish i was there when it exploded so I could feel the shockwave. Hated the mall there with only like 2 stores though. Im in maryland now..

  • You are absolutely stupid, ItsMyInternet! Get a life and wise up kid. This was very scary. I know lots of people in Big Spring. My bro used to keep his horses 2 miles from the plant. It could have been worse than it was. I saw the burn victim and outside of the burns on his body, he looked really good for someone who been in an accident that was horrific in nature. When you have a blast that can be felt from 50 miles out, that tells you something. So find something nice to say, IMI!

  • my relatives live in big spring, just about three miles away from that plant

  • holy i feel bad for those people job less now :'(
