@khmerforvaver The same thing would have happened because eventually the lands would have been discovered and colonized by any number of foreign countries. Gold and other riches are strong motivations to wipe out entire nations of people to get it. Also, regardless of whether it was Columbus, Cortez, France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, etc., natives of the Americas would still have died by the millions from exposure to smallpox, measles, etc. because they had no natural immunity to them.

No, my forefathers&mothers came from europe, and when I think about why I am here, living in this land, well, it's something hard. It's terrible to think about your roots and come out with the idea that you are here because some invaders killed native people. I'm not proud of it, but I can't change the past. So I think it's fair to recognize their identity as native people, that means to respect their culture, not to be ignorant about those things. I really admire native people's strength. :)
