This is my favorite version of this song. I like the dynamics of this version, because the guitars fade back to focus on the singing, and then they rush in again.
the mazzy are better ... sandoval's first album is a classic ...it's one of my top 3 album to listen just before i get to sleep ...recorded in a peculiar state... between a dream and a surrealistic reality...

This is not a cover version of Mazzy Star or Opal. Dave Roback didn't write it. It's a song by a band called Slapp Happy. Check your Trouser Press.

after 3:30 approximately the guitar part reminds me to the 90s oasis...mmmhhh...well it was probably just the sound of that time...

I have always loved this cover. I got me through a few dark nights in NYC back in the 90's.

Is this a Mazzy Star cover or did Mazzy Star cover Pale Saints? It's all so long ago I can't remember %-)

The original song is by Slapp Happy, a Canterbury, UK, art rock band of the '70's, form their first album Sort of (1972).
Opal made a cover on their debut album, She Hangs Brightly, in 1990.
The pale Saints cover the song on their Throwing Back the Apple single, as B-Side, in 1992.
Nowadays the easiest way to get this song on CD is to track down the Japan issue of In Ribbons, where Blue Flower is added as bonus track.
