I love this film. My two favorite scene are the first time she tries on the wedding dress and the part of the movie where Rhonda took off with Murial and told those three snobby gals off. and you three what a bunch of c********rs LOL
I adore this scene~~~~it makes me weep everytime I see it. I was like that, too, aching to be The Bride, and not just the bridesmaid, but I've had two weddings since, so I guess I satisfied "the itch"!
I actually rented this movie just to see how they used the instrumental version of dancing queen, but the movie was so good, I started it from the beginning and stayed up until 1 in the morning to finish it.
"You can't come in here threatening brides, no matter how unfortunate you are"
The beginning of this scene always reminds me of a scene from "Missing" when Sissy Spacek is trying to find a hiding place from Pinochet's thugs--the last thing you would think of when watching this!
best movie is right! the first time i saw this movie, i was rofflmfao!! at certain parts, but i can also relate to this movie in a way. my fam is mos def fucked up in a lot of ways. lol but i luv them n e ways. soo, this is also one of my fav parts! i luv the musical arrangements here. its awesome! *smiles....
September IS Spring Down Under, we are in a different hemisphere. My daughter spent October-Jan in Austrailia and enjoyed the gorgeous summer weather. I was there in March 2006 and almost died from the heat and humidity.
why do you girls are so obssessed on getting married to sb? Here in my country, when a girl turns 30, she gets desperate, and can even marry to a 10 year old boy just because he has a d.... Anyway, the film is great! Great memories of my university times (1995)
WOW! This is 1 of my fave bits of this mega film. Thanks for posting it. I love the dancing queen music thats played. I nearly always get a tear in my eye lol!
The first part, where Muriel trys on the first dress and the unique arrangement of Dancing Queen is playing is one of the most powerful scenes I have ever seen.
This is one of my favorite movies. I could not find it anywhere so I bought on ebay so my wife and I could watch it. She thought it was okay. I watch this movie at least once a year and my wife for the life of he can't figure out why a bearded, motorcycle riding, tattooed, former Army guy like me likes it so much. Cause it's good?
Don't worry, I'm a male 51 year old biker for life and I feel the same way. Terrific movie and as Antigeno states there's a bit of Muriel inside all of us. Terrific film!
do you think you could put up the scene where david goes to look for her the funeral, and where they kissed? I think that scene was real sweet... thought that david was actually falling for her... also the part where he wanted her to stay..
I never totally understood how Muriel is supposed to be "the ugly girl". Sure, she's a bit gawky and eager to please, but I found her really pretty and found Toni Collette less attractive when she got skinny again.
Peter Best did a great job re-arranging "Dancing Queen"...this scene is really the summation of Muriel's dreams of romance and triumph.
After living with a disabled person, I can say that Rachel Griffiths' chair isn't really one that permanent handicapped people would have.
toni collete is such a good actress Ive been a fan ever since I saw this movie in 1995.

LOL Dumb Aussies think September is spring. I actually had a friend who said sumpin similar to that thereby proving gorgeous girls have no brains.
Also we get married so we dont have to put up with guys hitting on us everywhere.

I love that part, too! He seems to fall in love with her after he sees her humble side. Makes you wonder if it could have worked out.
I think she should have should have shagged him again in the morning before she caught the taxi, though.
