@cesarg2784 almost any gun store. They are arguably the most popular pistol design out there. There are so many manufacturers of 1911's that I couldn't list them all if I tried.
Picked up my first 1911 about a month ago ..... I must admit, this video had a small role in it ..... great job dude ..... are you gonna make any new videos?
@MrMysecondlife The original magazine design for the m1911 was a 7 round magazine. I used both 7 and 8 round magazines in this video... but yes if a round was already chambered and you topped off the original mil spec magazine you can shoot 8 rounds.
this is one of my gavorie guns too shoot period. it has minimal problems and it just a great gun. and i also own a glock 30 45 acp and it is a good gun a smaller version of the glock 21 but it doesnt hold a cnadle to the m1911
@Dietzeeeee Now, I love the m1911 and 1911 variants because of the classic look and it's ergonomic and it's caliber. But the down side to have a .45 1911 is because you only get 7 or 8 rounds where as you get up to 19 rounds with a Glock 17. Now this is important because we don't want to keep reloading all the time and carry more magazines.
@counkev they do make high capacity 1911's and I do prefer 45 over 9mm any day... but thats just me. Obviously its going to have its downsides since it is a 100 year old design. But you have to give it some credit since so many gun manufactures are making 1911's today. Colt, S&W, Ruger, Sig, Remington, Kimber, Auto Ordinance, Springfield, STI, Ed Brown, Taurus, Dan wessan. The list goes on.. Who make Glocks? Pretty much just glock. You can get frames from a couple other places.
@counkev and yes I love the M1911 too. I think its point of aim and grip angle are awesome. I do understand how some people like glocks... and I hate to admit it but I own a Glock 21 SF gen 3 in 45 ACP The glock does not have the history a 1911 does. I am sure 75 years from now someone will be making a tribute for all the glock generation models and use in military and law enforcement role.
@Dietzeeeee Absolutely, I mean if you want a true 1911 get a colt. I'm not baised on the manfacturer, but some 1911 knockoffs are terrible. But if Colt doesn't tickle your fancy just about any company that supplied the US Army during WWII are great substitutes.
in my opinion there should be no dislikes in this video for one and one reason only the m1911 is the greatest pistol for its all of the innovations and has the longest service life by many militaries all over the world
and it is great to see that the pistol is still being used today John M Browning would be proud
Fantastic video the gun and round are actually older but this is a accurate tribute to a standard model using the venerable and unbeaten .45acp cartridge.
What a great tribute to the men who carried and trusted their lives to it, I was going to do one but I will just direct people here.
In my opsinion- the 1911 and all it's variants is the overall best pistol ever- 100 years of service life-(yep the u.s. marine expeditionary units still use it for its .45acp) It is accurate- semi automatic- reliable- and powerful gun that doesn't look all that bad- The simple design makes this gun a great workhorse- and its use in almost all of the U.S. wars make it an icon in the firearms industry- Thankyou John Moses Browning for this design- you saved alot of good mens lives with it!
Absolutely amazing video. Proud to say my first firearm is a Springfield Armory M1911A1 Mil Spec! This coming from a Canadian lol Still own it, and always will! Thank you John M Browning, your genius lives on today, and will continue to live on in gun enthusiasts everywhere! Happy belated 100th birthday of the 1911 design, here's to 100 more years! Cheers!
rather use this then a barreta m9 9 mil. M1911 100 years old and still probably the best pistol. Well annything the John M Browning designed its amazing especially the m2 browning 50 cal machine gun
Played battlefield bad company 2. "this sidearm" directed me to "this sidearms' tribute" yea I know video games... whatever.. Sadly to much ignorance in the "ghetto" to actually wake up one morning and say "tis a fine morning to lock and load on some target dummies in my backyard".
Never shot a Side-arm or rifle but this piece of work right here I Wouldn't object to shoot at least once before I die =\.
In the two centuries since the birth of the United States, it has never lost a war militarily, only for other reasons, such as public disapproval. That ratio of wars won to wars lost is among the highest, if not the highest, in recorded history.
@AvidGamer749 I shot both too, and there is a huge difference in reliability, as well as accuracy in my experience. Deagle is a P.O.S. M1911 has been proven time and again to be relentlessly reliable and plenty powerful. I shot a desert eagle two years ago or so, and it jammed ever other shot. I won't be wasting my hard earned money on it any time soon, I tell ya that. As for my Springfield M1911A1, it was worth every penny of $950 and then some. At least 1000 rounds and not a single jam.
ok all over youtube i see pistols saying it can carry 50 caliber or 45 caliber like this its bullshit a 50 caliber bullet is the size of a average tv remote in length just saying 50 caliber bullet is what a barrett sniper uses so get it rite!!!
@HendrixYoungthe2nd youre a dumbass the desert eagle does use a 50 caliber bullet but it is WIDE not long theres 2 different types pistol type and rifle type you know nothing about firearms dumbass!
@Dietzeeeee Could always carry 7 in the mag and one in the pipe too. Either way if you empty 7 rounds of .45 into anything and it's still coming at you, I'd say it's perfectly acceptable to make a tactical retreat. In either case, that's a goddamn fine weapon you have there sir. Mine should be arriving sometime within the next 3 weeks or so.
@Aeroplnut it shouldn't i would try using a heavier recoil spring the brass should only be getting tossed maybe 5 feet or so. if its getting flung 20 + feet then you really need to get a stronger recoil spring.
@fdmqpskjtb I guess because he is trying to keep it out of the water and the only way to do that is to put it up over his shoulder so he must rely on his sidearm in case they are attacked.
Carry my M1911-A1 every day. No better pistol. Still so popular after 100 years. Not as "collecting" or "admiring" but still for its main use defending and stopping. Not many guns have reached that at the 100 year mark.
Happy birthday M1911A1, a true gem of a pistol. Been in service through hundred years and over 5 wars destroying the shit out of our enemies. And everyone said amen.
Let us celebrate 100 years of perfectionism, 100 years of simplicity and 100 years of reliable peice of art that is still present and manufactured to this date.
@x1schenectady1x Browning had the pistol contracted through colt. Sameul colt made one of the first sucessful revolver that lead to the Colt Peacemaker. Thats why if you say "colt 45" it can easily be confused between the peacemaker and the m1911.
When I was at Goodfellow AFB in Tech School the first handgun I ever fired was a Beretta 92FS (M9). The second - less than five minutes later - was an M1911. If I could choose between the two, I'd take the M1911 over the M9 every freakin' day of the week.
This pistol is one of the best pistols ever made and fielded to our young fighters. It's more powerful than the 9mm, and more reliable than the Barretta M9. It helped win WWI and WWII. It kept peace in the west, and it helped to enable this country to rise above all others. I love the m1911a1, and I only accept it in its original form or close approximations. To me, a pistol should be used for one thing: combat, not competition. Train as you fight. There is no substitute!
This pistol represents an era of when America did not barter and bargain with despots, thieves, and pirates. It represents and era when America still had integrity in its dealings overseas and when America didn't send troops, save for Vietnam, into harm's way for nothing. It represents a forgotten era of what firepower really means rather than capacity and plastic receivers and DOA only triggers. It represents a more just era of enforcement rather than groveling to one's enemies for mercy.
@TheWhole9Yards1001 Yes during ww1 ww2 Korea Vietnam the first gulf war and some units still use them today. It was the longest seving standard issues side arm in the United states armed forces.
@Dietzeeeee really? because i know this guy on utube that has a m1911 from his grandpa from ww2 and he said that it was single action. bty its "is" not "was"
@TheWhole9Yards1001 It is a single action self loading pistol. There is no double action trigger pull the hammer must be cocked for it to fire but when fired the slide cocks the hammer each time.
@Dietzeeeee that seems pretty stupid to say doesnt it? single action, self loading? bty do u know the state that is the most lenient in gun laws?? and that is closest to california? (gotta stay close to my parents man.)
@TheWhole9Yards1001 Not really as the hammer must be cocked for the gun to fire and every time you fire the hammer is cocked by the slide, If the hammer is in the down position with a live round in the chamber and you pull the trigger nothing will happen, thus it is a single action self loading pistol. Oregon is so so Washington is alright. Montana Idaho Nevada Utah and of all of them Arizona are all very lax on gun laws. basically anywhere but california is a plus. lol
It's not stupid; he's accurately describing the pistol's operation.
"Single action" in that the trigger itself only has one function: disengaging the sear on a cocked hammer.
For "self loading," the recoil drives the slide backwards to push the hammer back and to extract the spent cartridge from the chamber and eject it . When the recoil spring pushes the slide back into battery, a live cartridge is stripped from the magazine and pushed forward into the chamber.
John M Browning might have been more accepting of the glock then most people think. One of his mottos was that anything that can happen to a gun will happen to a gun, the glock seems to be a perfect example of that.
to tell the truth i think the Auto-Kalashnikov 47 is a better example seeing that you can beat the shit out of it and it will still work, same for the PPSh-41
where can you get an M1911? they look fun...

Happy birthday M1911A1, a true gem of a pistol. Been in service through hundred years and over 5 wars destroying the shit out of our enemies. And everyone said amen.

Let us celebrate 100 years of perfectionism, 100 years of simplicity and 100 years of reliable peice of art that is still present and manufactured to this date.

wait wait wait i thought sameul colt made it. someone enlighten me!
x1schenectady1x 11 months ago
@x1schenectady1x Browning had the pistol contracted through colt. Sameul colt made one of the first sucessful revolver that lead to the Colt Peacemaker. Thats why if you say "colt 45" it can easily be confused between the peacemaker and the m1911.

When I was at Goodfellow AFB in Tech School the first handgun I ever fired was a Beretta 92FS (M9). The second - less than five minutes later - was an M1911. If I could choose between the two, I'd take the M1911 over the M9 every freakin' day of the week.

how come this m1911 dosent sound as loud as mine?? this has a slight sound to it and mines has a bam to it
PEEWEEK707 11 months ago

The M1911:
_ We want something small & big, just enough to knock a guy down in one shot, not 2 shots, not 3 or 4 or more.
The M16:
_Something to stop wasting time on card games on the battle field & start using time more effectively.
*Both of these weapons should be appreciated for such features.

45 calibers of instant respect.. bigger than the japaneses puny WW2 nambu 8mm pistol/ (type 100)submachine guns :) 45 calibers = 12mm by the way
Why does Call of Duty insult our intelligence by making weapons of different caliber the same "power"

MUSICALGUNNUT45 1 year ago
@MUSICALGUNNUT45 The only 2 7 round mags I had where a mec gar and a beat up surplus one. The rest were kimber 8 round mags.
Dietzeeeee 1 year ago
@Dietzeeeee hey diet were there any semi auto m1911's during ww2??
TheWhole9Yards1001 1 year ago
@TheWhole9Yards1001 Yes during ww1 ww2 Korea Vietnam the first gulf war and some units still use them today. It was the longest seving standard issues side arm in the United states armed forces.
Dietzeeeee 1 year ago
@Dietzeeeee really? because i know this guy on utube that has a m1911 from his grandpa from ww2 and he said that it was single action. bty its "is" not "was"
TheWhole9Yards1001 1 year ago
@TheWhole9Yards1001 It is a single action self loading pistol. There is no double action trigger pull the hammer must be cocked for it to fire but when fired the slide cocks the hammer each time.
Dietzeeeee 1 year ago
@Dietzeeeee that seems pretty stupid to say doesnt it? single action, self loading? bty do u know the state that is the most lenient in gun laws?? and that is closest to california? (gotta stay close to my parents man.)
TheWhole9Yards1001 1 year ago
@TheWhole9Yards1001 Not really as the hammer must be cocked for the gun to fire and every time you fire the hammer is cocked by the slide, If the hammer is in the down position with a live round in the chamber and you pull the trigger nothing will happen, thus it is a single action self loading pistol. Oregon is so so Washington is alright. Montana Idaho Nevada Utah and of all of them Arizona are all very lax on gun laws. basically anywhere but california is a plus. lol
Dietzeeeee 1 year ago
@Dietzeeeee thanks diet, ill sub.. so, prolly oregon or washington is closest to california.. just up north.
Thank You
-TheWhole9Yards1001
TheWhole9Yards1001 1 year ago
@TheWhole9Yards1001

Sexiest handgun of all time, 100 years old and still kicking ass! :]

John M Browning might have been more accepting of the glock then most people think. One of his mottos was that anything that can happen to a gun will happen to a gun, the glock seems to be a perfect example of that.
MUSICALGUNNUT45 1 year ago
to tell the truth i think the Auto-Kalashnikov 47 is a better example seeing that you can beat the shit out of it and it will still work, same for the PPSh-41
