  • I love the face he makes when he first runs into her

  • 101 people are jealous bf/husbands!

  • timeless scene... colin firth is just gorgeous... makes me swoon everytime.... x

  • I love how Colin Firth didn't actually jump into the lake. His stunt double did lol!

  • I believe this scene was meant to show an very awkward moment btwn them, not cause mass swooning. That was a happy by-product of Colin Firth's sexiness, vulnerability and amazing acting in this scene. Jennifer Ehle is NOT fat. She has a wide face and is, ahem, generously endowed, but NOT fat. As for the 2007 film, MM, while handsome, was sulky, not proud, and KK, while pretty to look at, acts with her chin. Plus, it just felt too contemporary and their dialogue was delivered too fast, imo.

  • I don't understand, I read the book but I did not find any scene there where Darcy went diving/swimming on the lake on the day Lizzie went touring his place, nor did I find any scene where he strips off his wet clothes either. What chapter is it suppose to be? Does anyone know? Because I find this scene wholly inappropriate considering the setting was suppose to be in a time where people were more conservative.

  • @SuperS800 It's not in the book, it's an exercise of poetic licence. I think the scene was beautifully written and quite faithful to the characters, even if not consistent with usual social convention.

  • @SuperS800 This part was not in the book at all. Austen did not go into detail what the conversation was between the two either (this part was made up by the writer). It's not inappropriate, though, since we're led to believe it was hot and he had rode to the estate quickly. Plus, it is his estate so if he wanted to take a swim, why not?

  • @hjpop Haha! I think they added that scene just so they can see Mr. Firth in "the wet look". I didn't know he did this in his own lake so I guess he has the right to swim and whatever. I would have prefered Gerard Butler doing it though, or maybe Ben Barnes (drool....) O-O

  • I must say I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting Mr. Darcy to show a little more skin.

  • @fairygal1989 i think we all were expecting more skin.. alot more skin... ;) haha

  • @88hezyah Yeah, I thought he'd at least be shirtless. ;)

  • Where is the real lake scene? Why does nobody remember it? He walked out of the lake, dripping. I want to see that bit again, not this bit.

  • @deepPelagic = not in this adaption - that must be the one with Keira Knightley.

  • I like the 2005 version better....

  • @NerdySportyPunkGirl I dont, but it is great version! But I am sooo in love with mr Darcy from "lost in Austen"

  • Behold Colin Firth in all his fabulousness.

  • The best version of a timeless classic ...why bother to disagree, colin firth delivers effortlessly..

  • The best scene in the whole series!!! thx for uploading.

  • great actor COLIN FIRTH

  • their acting sucks! 2005 version-waaaaaayyyyyy better

  • @CosmoExplosion and the painting scene is much much more effective in P&P 2005 (there's a statue instead of a painting but you can imagine what Liz feels in that moment.). 8-]

  • @maham21jan

yeah. and isnt Jane supposed to be stunning. the 2005 P&P got that right. and no offence to the actors and actresses, they're pretty faat.

that was mean. well, yeah. couldnt they get descent people

  • @CosmoExplosion lol! They were probably being more accurate by taking on a little bulky actresses cuz I think healthy women were preferred in those days...but I still like the whole feel of 2005 version.

  • @CosmoExplosion It is universally acknowledged that Colin Firth was born to play Mr Darcy. All were full of praise for him as Darcy,he was a nominee for a BAFTA award for that role, and he remains synonymous with the role.He is the definitive Darcy for any reviewer.Firth has won an Academy award, many other awards, how can you compare him to MacFadyen? How can you only dare to criticize him as an actor? And in this performance..Jennifer Ehle is a great actress, she won a BAFTA award

  • @CosmoExplosion and she won two Tony awards for best lead and featured actress in a play.Jennifer embodies the character perfectly, she IS elizabeth bennet. She definitely is the best portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet ever ,as well as Colin Firth as Mr Darcy, but the whole cast deserves the praise received.John O'Connor of The New York Times lauded the serial as a "splendid adaptation, with a remarkably faithful and sensitively nuanced script".He commented on Jennifer Ehle's ability to make

  • @CosmoExplosion Elizabeth "strikingly intelligent and authoritative without being overbearing", and noted how Firth "brilliantly captures Mr. Darcy's snobbish pride while conveying, largely through intense stares, that he is falling in love despite himself".

If we talk about the look,Colin Firth is still undoubtedly a very handsome man,but at that time he was in all his splendor.I defy anyone to demonstrate the contrary.

  • @CosmoExplosion Joan Klingel Ray, a professor of English at the University of Colorado and the president of theJane Austen Society of North America, who has seen a preview of the £20 million film, said Macfadyen wasn't a patch on Firth who was "simply more attractive".She said:"The Darcy in the film does not have the quality of attractiveness that Colin Firth has. I don't want to cause any offence but Colin is simply a much better looking man than Matthew."Is it necessary to write other things?

  • @CosmoExplosion Jennifer Ehle had an unconventional beauty ,but she was very pretty. She had and she still has a beautiful smile, a nice and sweet face, and I don't understand how you can consider her a FAT woman.Keira is beautiful, she has done a good job,but she has been more a telegenic girl than a true actress in that film, her acting isn't comparable to that of Jennifer Ehle.

  • @eleonor141

….out that I liked the other one better. They tried to make the other one as short as they could (its 2 hours long) and this version had definitely a more accurate sequence. But I found the other one more dramatic in some of the scenes. Like the first proposal was epic. And when darcy turns up when Elizabeth is with her aunt and uncle visiting Pemberly , that scene too was brilliant than this one. But yes we live in a society of different opinions so I guess..

  • @CosmoExplosion You are free to prefer what you want, but it's not necessary to talk nonsense...We are talking about actors who have won Oscars, awards of all kinds, which have been praised for these interpretations everywhere. It's impossible to criticize their acting here.If you prefer the movie, its'not necessary to denigrate what you don't like .

  • @CosmoExplosion Beauty is subjective, but I don't think that a nice man like Firth (at the time in all of his splendor), or Jennifer Ehle can be considered fat! Jennifer has an unconventional beauty, but she's pretty and absolutely normal with her physique. The actress who plays the role of Jane was equally normal. At most the ladies’ clothes emphasize the figure.

  • @eleonor141

we should just end this matter.

  • Mr Darcy, would you marry me?

  • @dominoharvey92 sure I'll marry you I'm mister darcy

  • @damageinside well then allow me to love you with every single beat of my heart, ooh I really wish you were the real mister Darcy lol

  • @dominoharvey92 Oh sure lets do..... but maybe we should meet and I could propose first

  • i watched this series after i watched the McFadayen one, i loved him then, but he is just a ttrifle in front of Firth really.

  • Ugh I want a love story like Elizabeth and Mr Darcy!!!

  • ALL THE DISLIKES ARE MEN...

  • @talidina2 that's why there are so many likes, cuz women rule!! ^^

  • Mr Darcy makes all our hubbies look bad... XD

  • 97 people are blind and deaf. Awwww Mr Darcy.

  • I never thought i would fancy Colin Firth but in this ooft he is handsome :D

  • One of my favorite scenes, I love Mr. Darcy!!

  • Porn for women

  • That was an awkward moment when they saw each other!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Miss Bingley disliked it 96 times.

  • @Nandy104 Nah... Miss Bingley would have liked it for the wet shirt scene. Lady Catherine disliked it.

  • @aznboionfya

sorry, but you do not seem to understand the sexiness of jane austen at all. i'm really, really sorry for you;-) everytime i watch this scene - - - swoon!

  • In today's contemporary society, we tend to find images of naked flesh to cause our hearts to fetter. But, quite honestly, my very being violently shudders whenever I see this scene and when I see the stereotypical Adonis, I get a chill, but nothing compares to this. Colin's a remarkably handsome man in all his natural state and his portrayal of Darcy is positively wonderful and endearing. First time I saw this scene, I was 15 or so and, really, it's still the sexiest moment I've ever witnessed.

  • My teacher asked me why i find the BBC version more appealing than the '05 . My response:"Because this adaptation is more accurate and rich in details and of course ....because of Colin Firth and his wet shirt from the lake scene!!!".

Since then this became her favourite adaptation too.:D:D

  • I know exactly how the poor devil feels...to stumble, unexpectedly on the woman you truly love..heart in your mouth(she just walked in the room, by the way) knowing you'll probably never be together..can't form a proper sentence. But, an answer to a prayer 40 years ago, she married me. Sometimes if i get to taking her for granted, i think back to those days and fall in love with her all over again. Thank you Lord.....( sorry, but i just had to share this with someone).

  • @olmose

Oh my, that's so...lovely. And yes, Firth does portray that feeling so

well, you just feel for him and like him and hope for them both.

  • @olmose You are really fortunate! congratulations!

  • @olmose i love that you still feel that way about your wife. it gives the rest of us single gals out there hope that there's a good guy among all the trolls :)

  • @c00lbeansbag Thank you ma'm...i can't tell you how lucky i am to have her as my wife and mother of our 4 kids. She is certainly the best thing to have happened to me on this earth. I certainly hope you find that one man who loves you as much as i'm sure you richly deserve. Good luck to you.

  • BUbubu he's so flustered <3

  • I want to comfort him!

  • Women never realize how pathetic they are when they type...

  • @tomsega wtf

  • Best. Scene. Ever. Best. Mini. Series. Ever. Period.

  • He was meant to be swim naked according to the director who made this! Its not fair we were robbed!! I like the bath scene where is looking at Elizabeth out the window.

Seeing how lovely and natural she is, and fancying the pants of her!! lol!

  • Colin is a handsome man - but what is the big deal about this scene?

  • i liked this scene!

  • "oooooooh, we must leave here at once !" - such passion in Elizabeth's outburst.

  • Indeed.

  • @MadDevi Most that prefer the newer version haven't seen this one except for this scene & so they don't get it. Lizzie had previously shot Darcy down on his lacking social skills & he's trying to reform; she's embarrassed 'cause the last time she saw him she told him off for his rudeness. This scene is SUPPOSED to be awkward. Rest of the movie is not.

  • @AlpineWilfy NOT THE LACE!

  • I think 2005 version is the best

  • Dear God in Heaven.....!

  • Thumbs if you agree Collin Firth looks SEXY in the water!!!!

  • Who ever dreamt up that Darcy comes out of the lake is a GENIUS...

    I LOVE YOU MR DARCY/COLIN-xxxx

  • @GitteParis My thoughts exactly.

  • Love everything - but especially the music ! SO SO SO wonderful !

  • ok so im usually not a fan of these kinds of things but.... collin is soooooo hot!!! :D

  • 91 people were blinded by sexiness.

  • How I loathe sideburns. You lessen the pain though, Colin ;)

  • @KirenEJamifan LOLOLOLOL !!!!!!!!!!

  • People had a good reason for disliking this video. He didn't bare it all !!! LOL

  • watching this makes you wonder why they bothered to make the film version.

  • @cheeeesecaaaake I adored the film version! While it wasn't true enough to the story, it was my basis for reading the book and it just floored me. I've seen it more times than I'd care to admit.

  • @KirenEJamifan The 2005 one introduced me to the book as well. Having read the book however I found the "countrified bumpkiness" on display and "underdone" characters in the 2005 version to be quite pathetic. Poor attempt to say the least.

  • omygod I love this adaption of "P&P" so much.

  • BECOME A FAN OF PERIOD DRAMA MOVIES ON FACEBOOK!! :)!

  • Esa carita... me mata... que hermoso es Colin Firth!

  • This version of the series is just THAT much better than the other version... xD
