One of my top favorite games. I remember playing this back when it came out so I went out and bought The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection :)

got it for 17 bucks at gamestop in crap condition. people need to learn how to take care of their games. the disk is scratched up. but the game still works but their is a bunch of glitches. it is probably due to the scratches.

I've just bought this on ebay, it was a bit expensive at $38 which is £23 in the uk where I am. its the one with the art cards and the disc has hardly a mark on it.

Hey, nice review. I just want to say though... is the world really that empty, besides you or the monsters? I mean, I've heard it be compared to Ocarina of Time, but also that it's more of an "atmospheric" game and that the world is empty, which it looks to be... I want to play open world games with people to talk to and things to do, rather than look at the landscape. I'm not really looking for just boss battles =\

Still my favorite review of yours...I had to come back because I finally had a chance to sit down and play this over Thanksgiving and have beat 10 out of 16 so far. I can't wait to see what happens at the end. I also saw something on Wikipedia that there may be a movie coming out that is based on the game.

@vintagevideogamegeek Supposedly there is a movie in the making. I don't have high hopes for it since the writer also did some terrible Chun-Li movie. If there ever were a movie to make a silent film, Shadow of the Colossus would be it.

I have always been a huge Nintendo and Zelda fan. I can say this does not even come close to having the same impact Zelda has on me. I find this game very repetitive so on a 1 out of 10 scale I give this game a 7/10.

@LordoftheToms I love Zelda, too, and I disagree. I have never played Shadow of the Colossus, but I want to buy it. I think this game is perfect for me, because of the atmosphere. Just travelling this wasteland, that's what I like. I like a huge, open world in which I can decide what to do and just wander around. I don't need a story. I love Zelda and I enjoy the storyline, but for me, the real adventure starts as soon as I have played through the storyline.

I am going to half to say after about 6 1/2 hours into the gameplay 6 collosus into the game I'm not overly impressed. A few things that I can complain about is the level of time it takes just to find an boss. This game is a decent game if you have the strategy guide and lots of patience but I found myself getting really bored with the level of time it takes to find the collosus. Another complaint I have is no enemies along the way to find the Colossus.

When you all get a chance to play this on PS3 (the ones who didnt get to play it on PS2) You will see how many games which came out after SOtC copied aspects of it. Even the latest next gen games (Castlevania off the top of my head, completely jacks this in many ways).

I think its because its one of those games that was SO unique - at the time - that it became a sort of benchmark for future developers to poach sneaky ideas from. It was also pretty low profile at first - not many people played

@snipeNsnake You can explore the land and hunt white-tailed lizards and fruit from some permanent stamina and health boosts. That's it. No towns or NPC's or extra equipment (except for time attack bonus items).

There are 16 colossi and each, depending on how fast you can figure them out, can each take from several minutes to over an hour. I probably took about 20 hours on my first play, but I took my time and had some extensive exploring.

@superlosia1234 After completing this game I had considered that as a possibility. However, Fumita Ueda has confirmed that this game takes place in the same world as ICO at a time in the distant past. He also confirmed that Wander sires the line of horned boys that ICO is a descendant of.

Great review. But I myself couldnt really get into the game for some reason, maybe it just wasn't my style of game. It has really nice graphics and music. But I am more of an action packed gamer, so the lack of minor enemies was a bummer for me. The bosses also looked cool but I found the controls hard and i couldnt climb them very well making it hard to play. I'm sure this game is great, just not for me. Thanks for the review!

Dinky If you dont mind FPS's, thats usually what I play, You should try resistance 2, its good enough to rent but I wouldnt buy it, but it has some a BIG boss, but its way too easy...

Yeah, I like some shooters and they do often have huge bosses, but it's a different style that games like Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. I do need to check out Resistance 2, that and Killzone 2.
