  • Doctor Maybe seems to have gotten some Daleks to help him out!

  • This is the world best ever game in my 32 years of game life!

  • THERE'S A SUBMARINE AT THE DOCK???! HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE IT?? I was stupid when I was 4

  • Used to pause the game

and admire the great action shots

  • A strangely familiar landscape...

  • Great job. I used to play CG in 1986 with my apple 2e. TYVM for the video.

  • I just saw my life flash before my eyes! lol

  • Um, didn't you get blown away if you ran down the runway past the jet, and got the humiliating message, "Can't take it, Goodnight???" :^D

  • one of the best apple 2 game ever!! (with conan)

  • I never say OMG, but... OMG! I remember this so well! Nice to see it in colour, as I only had a monochrome green screen on my IIe. Thanks for this video!

  • This was arguably one of my fave games for the Apple II+. Hours of fun when games actually were simple but creative!

  • How I hated waiting for that infernal chopper to leave at the start, and the long run to the jet. Let me shoot stuff!

  • cool

  • Oh my gosh! We used to have this game on our OLD green screen apple! Haha!

  • haven't seen this game since I was like 9 or 10.. and I'm 28 now.

  • Me to, I was limited to 1 hour of playing a day and had to pay my brother 5$ for every extra hour. Those were the days.

  • Very good work - I played this awesome game with a friend, each of us holding 1 paddle in his hand.

Please provide also the Easter Eggs included in this game:

When Goodnight stands around doing nothing, nice features are displayed. And watch what happens if he keeps on running instead of entering the submarine. At the beginning, instead of entering the jet, ever let him go on running towards the minefield?

Please provide these features - thanks in advance!

  • Oh...you used the cheat! But please give us the guidance how to obtain 99 hours......

  • @lamtatyan It's not a cheat, the cracked version had 99:99 as the start time.

  • @ptdnet No, it really has a cheat. I can't exactly remember, but it should be that after you crashed your aircraft, you wait for the space ship to rescue. When the space ship teleports you in it (i.e. the light goes out), you press some buttons. After that, your time would be increased from 24 hours to 99:99...

  • Good stuff. Many hours spent playing this game -- I lost part of the manual and half the code for part of the game.

Do you remember all of the cracked games back then? Piracy was an issue for software even when the storage medium was a 5.25" floppy.

  • yeah this woz a big part o' my childhood, i neva did finish this game, i remember allways running out o' time on tha clock. did it even have a clock at tha end? someone commented that it woz all tha different vehicle use that made this game & bringing that 2 my attention it's wot did it 4 me 2. i still dream about tha submarine stage sometimes. sammy lightfoot, apple cider spider, wavy navy, conan.........thank tha goddesses 4 tha 80's.

  • The opening chopper sound took me back 20 years. What a memorable game.

  • ...back when games were actually fun

  • Broderbund was putting out some awesome games back then. I love the whole retro aesthetic of this game. Still remember the Tremho berserkers quite well!

  • I loved this game.

  • Ha! Don't remember if I ever beat this game.

  • interesting thing about it - as exiting it is watching this video of something i used to watch for hours every day more than 20 years ago, it doesnt make me wanna play this game again. just watching it is enough. and another thing - how come there are so few comments?

is it just me and those six others who played this game?

or are we the only ones who had computer then and now as well?

    wasnt it a great game?

    thanx for posting this

  • I can't believe how much of this game was imprinted on my mind.... Every scene and sound was like i'd just seen and heard it yesterday even-though it was a black and green monitor. I know for a fact that I was in a minority for having the apple IIc growing up. My dad brought it back to Australia from the states in 84 with a box full of copied games. Captain Goodnight was one of them... never completed it but loved it. Can't believe how fluid the running motion was....

  • Thank you so much. Bring backs mad memories. vast majority of my apple 2 games dont work cause the floppy disks over time goes bad. :( and yes the submarine part is tough as if you lost the code your STUCK.

  • What a great game! I could never get past the submarine because I didn't have the code! :(

  • Wow they did good on his animation running.

  • Good times. Makes me kind of sad.

  • the innocence of youth..... and the realization that we're older people

  • Yeah! It's Captain Good Night! I love old games!
