I encourage anyone who's feeling the nostalgia to check out therebirth(dot)net... it's a 1.12 vanilla server that strives to be as close to the original vanilla wow as possible... don't be turned off by the crappiness of most private servers, there are no instant levels, donations, vote rewards, free gear, xp boosts... just pure nostalgia. One of the least buggy private servers you'll find as well, the people running it are amazing. The closest you can get to experiencing what you once loved...
On my very first toon at about level 14 or so I had a quest to deliver something to some Dwarf in Loch Modan. I didn't know about the Deeprun Tram yet...I went waddling into Burning Steppes and died instantly...rezzed...died again...rezzed...died again...rezzed...all the way up the map through Searing Gorge and Badlands and finally into Loch Modan. Took me about 4 hours. But I didn't know any better at the time and when I finally got there I felt so awesome lol Ahh those were the days...
@MrNomSauce Yea because the NPC that is in Loch Modan that I had to deliver the package to also shows up in Redridge if you die a lot of times in Burning Steppes. True story.
@Bystander81 I did something similar, except I think it was a crafting quest where I had to deliver a box of bolts from the Dwarf District of Stormwind to a Dwarf outpost on the edge of Modan, near to the Wetlands. I looked at the map, saw where it was and started to run. Had no idea that right beside where I picked up the quest was a tram to take me 90% of the way there in about 30 seconds. Spent about 4 hours trying to run there like you.
I remember seeing this zone only a few times when I would ride over it in a flight to Stormwind. Having no idea what lurked in the ash below, it was almost sort of a place of myth. My low level friends and I used to speculate as to what could be going on there storywise, and it was just awesome trying to imagine the purpose of something you had absolutely no idea about.
awwww i loved wow so much but then Wotlk came out n then cata it ruined the game for me tbh ;( i want vanilla wow i really wish blizz would make a server for all us vanilla wow players
For me there were some things in the game that has been pulled me to play it since wotlk .. no way wotlk , cata only gear no skills ... maybe there's skills but if before it was 50% skill 50% gear with everypatch this ratio increases like 40% skill 60% gear already at TBC Wotlk 30%skill 70%gear
There are so many things that are good in the game but they are just getting away from it sorry for that ..
I remember taking the flight path from Elywnn Forest through Burning Steppes and ALWAYS seeing that one red dragon owning those dwarves right at the border high up in the mountain. I also remember I could never get up there >.<
awesome clip. have any of you people looked at the wow cheats pack on warcraftbotsXinfo (replace X with .) ? it is awesome, i recently downloaded it. it's got absolutely every thing in it, gold guides, bots, hacks, glitches and even the new arena glitch. i perhaps shouldn't reveal to folks about it however at least this offers you all a reasonable chance to obtain it before i pwn all of you
;( i rememebr the days when i was lvl 60 warrior in vanilla wow running through brd...then when i finished the run on my first time i got lost on the way out and tumbled upon black rock spire (lower) and got killd then having to use my hearthstone lol but good times ;(;(;(;(;(;(;(;(;(;(;(;(
Ahh.. I remember a ["half" dark iron, lol] dwarf-warrior who was mistress of Blackrock Mountain, Seering Gorge & Burning Steppes. She guided many groups as tank & helped those passing through. She was working on exalted w/thee Thorium Brotherhood & was a master smithy.. WotLK, she enjoyed thee classic areas, and hung around 60 for a long time until finally making a journey to outlands... Rotlf=)
@hairyknuckles1000 One cannot simply walk into the Burning Steppes. One must LEG IT. I remember the chills I felt when I first glimpsed the entryway from Redridge...
I used to be terrified of this place. Just as much as when I was training my vanilla gnome rogue in ashenvale. Doing that quest on those treants right next to the extrance to felwood and seeing those skull marked bears right across the ashenvale/felwood border. I was scared to death.
@Makentz heh I wish I could get intimidated by a game. What an experience that would make... As I am now I need to be really stoned to get such immersion out of a game
@Makentz Same was scared of this place I remember going from this nice green zone into some fiery zone with skulled monsters. I remember getting a group of low levels about the same level as me and running into there trying to group kill normal mobs. We made it past 2 mobs before one of the whelps killed us all xD
Burning Steppes/E.W.Plaguelands>Un'goro Crater>Silthis>Outlands... That's the Quest route I would always take. I really enjoyed This zone the most tho
lolz reminds me of te first time i entered the burning steppeslolz with a whole group of 7 people lolz the highest lvl was 44 hahaha so much fun getting killed running around in chaos i was lvl 33
Ooooo scaryyy.I never made it to the burning steppes since the private server owner started spamming messages that he is sick of that private server and he will shut it down and something else....did I just say I play on private server?Well not anymore, and to whoever shut down that server:YOURE THE BIGGEST FAGGOT IN THE WORLD!

i freaked out when (i could swear it was him, idk) i saw the main dragon in cataclysm.
i flew over the place where he was armored, thought it was cool.
then i continued to stormwind.....when i got to the mountain range i saw hiw wings, then they were gone.
o.0
didn't think a fatass-pissed-pyschopath(needsahug) dragon could disappear that fast..

I remember entering this place, wandering around, and instantly being killed by an elite.
Oddly enough, since I played Horde most of the time, I already knew about the Tram by the time I went back to the Alliance.
