Hiking the Half-Dome Mountain using Cables

i also saw this guy fall off of half dome. it took him about 15 seconds to finally get to the bottom and the rangers couldn't id him because his carcass bc it was so thrashed.

The cables are so easy to climb. Just hold onto the cable. Alex Honnold Free Soloed the north face of halfdome.

I've been up half dome twice and I'm only 12, the cables were kinda scary but it was totally worth it.

I was fit enough to make this hike in like 10 hours round trip, but the cables scared the crap out of me. I personally had bad traction and was always slipping.  I would have easily died if I had fallen away from these cables.

I share your feelings. I walked up parts of the "Zugspitze", a famous mountain in Germany and there was ice on the granite rock. Problem was that the ice was so fine, so clear that you couldnt see it. Had I slipped, I would have gone off at least 800 metres freefall. It was terryfying. What made it even more scary was seeing half a dozen plaqs dedicated to deceased persons who were walking on the edge. Cheers man. Well done for climbing it.

you will be fine

i did it as a sophmore in high school

just have enough water and enough carbs

oh and you should bring your own gloves for the cables caz the ones there are really worn out and old

so looks like for someone to fall, it can't be a crowded day, otherwise they just fall back on the people behind th em and they shuld hold him/her up

Not likely. It is so steep the climbers worry about holding themselves up. If someones body weight fell on you at that grade you wouldn't be able to help them. It's crazy.
