The definition of enemy is a faction who works in opposite forces to you. Tibet and Taiwan are enemies in idealism, but are never enemies in the battlefield. When two ideas do not mix, conflict happens, and when this happens, U.S seeing this golden opportunity will try to break off China into smaller countries like they did to the Soviet Union. And to your second point, two types of government can NEVER mix, this is why China would rather befriend Russia because both share the same ideology.
