I can't wait for the day when home computer power will let us play games with physics like this in real-time. I wish valve would buy this for Half Life 3, could you imagine playing a game where the building you're in collapses, or a game where you can kill your opponents by demolishing part of the building they are in... but this stuff probably took hours to render and process :-(
As far as I know there's not a commercial version yet, you can hire the company to create the simulation for you, but you can't get the program and do it yourself...
I really hope to god no one uses this for analysis... At least because it looks like everything is just rigid bodies?! Should at least be doing some linear FEM or something with a real stress/strain model.
This is not rigid body simulation. It is a new method of simulation called Applied Element Method (AEM). AEM is an advanced non-linear analysis which analyzes structural behavior during elastic and inelastic modes including the automatic generation of plastic hinges, buckling, cracks and separation (Something FEM can't do).
This would be great to see in the new game I Am Alive, if the building were to crash down all in real time while you character try's to dodge the rubble would be fantastic. It also would be great because everyone's game environment would be different on account of it happening in real time and not rendered.
Im waiting for a demo of this fantastic program. If the sims not take forever to calculated, and there is a good comunication with max... This will be a really good program!
ow shit imagine this being used on games real time destruction, but i dought there will be a console powerful ennough to calculate that and produce HD graphics (anytime soon)
Even if this was free i woulden't want it though i would consider it the reason is i looked i saw and thought bloody fucking hell and that was HAVOK Physics engine.
this is nothing special AND YOU CANT DOWNLOAD IT these programs are hundreads of thousands of dollars this is real time not animation not a render ITS REAL.

buildings are not made with blocks that break apart. They have WELDED steel columns that don't simply snap when weight is applied.

Of course this costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars, it's an amazingly realistic physics generator.

It doesn't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. You could buy a house and a car for that much.
