  • Today I was looking for some Okinawan songs on the net、 then I found lots of Akira-sann's singing! Though it's alredy over mid night , over 2 oclock, I can't stop listening your singing. seem I felt in love with your singing!!!!(*^_^*)

  • Akira, your voice and playing abilities are amazing! My 16 year old son just got back from his first trip to Okinawa with a new shamisen. He is a skilled ukulele player, he is going to learn shamisen now.

You are a Brazilian Okinawan! I am a 4th generation Hawaiian Okinawan, my sons are 5th generation uchinanchu born in Hawaii.

  • I can also play the Taiko drum with this song

  • Ah suge!!

You played very nicely, It reminds me of o-ban last year with my family. I am glad to see a fellow okinawan playing as well as yourself.

    Ganbante!

  • Akira san , where and from who did you learn to masterfully play this kankara instrument?

Are you a 1st or 2nd or 3rd generation Okinawan?

Would like to learn the scores.

  • Hi. It is not a kankara sanshin. It is a standard sanshin.

  • when I read the Okinawans loved their shamisen so much that, when the bombing during WWII wrecked the musicians of all their equipments, ppl used tin cans and boxes. Could u even believe that?? it breaks my heart to read about it ! What musician could bear to part with their instrument when it is like a part of you? No, not even in the face of the threat of war or death. (T___T)

  • That kind of sanshin is called "kankara sanshin".

  • (^_^) Waaaa! That is such a nice song!

  • ii desu ne. Doumo arigatou. how about haisai ojisan? :)

  • Arigatou! I'm practising Haisai Ojisan... although I can play it, I haven't memorised the lyrics yet.... coming soon!
