I hated this ending. The whole story was so awesome that I actually got attached to a lot of the NPCs (especially Elanne). Reminded me of how I felt like crap in '93 when I finally beat Betrayal at Krondor and found out Gorath dies.
I guess that probably means it the scriptwriters did a good job though, huh? Still, it would have been nice to at least have used one of main voice actors instead of whoever did the narrating in the end. Why not Aldanon or Nevalle?
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Neverwinter Nights. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
Honestly Grobnar dies no matter what; apparently throwing himself over the construct to shield it from the falling debris? I'm quite accepting of that if the construct was your ally in the final battle but what if it turned on you or wasn't built? It would've been cool if the expansion took other possibilities into account because really that makes no sense if the construct turned on you or wasn't built in the original campaign.
Yeah, I'm not too pleased with this narrator either. What, was the narrator from the first Neverwinter Nights not available?
And you know, countless displeased Dungeon Masters in D&D's history have used "rocks fall, everybody dies" as a heavy-handed player control technique, but this is honestly the first time I've ever seen it used in an adventure's ending and aftermath. Most DMs are content to let the protagonists (Good or Evil) walk away with their victory. Talk about innovation, huh?
WTF?!?! OMFG!!! THIS WAS THE WORST ENDING EVVVERRRR!!!! and I've seen my fair share of bad endings -cough- -cough- ME2 [sometimes]
for one.: WTF?!?! EVERYONE IS DEAD?!?! "oohh was the cloak she wore?" "maybe we don't know." D:<<<< SRlSLY WTF?!?!
now that just sent me into a state of despiar... for real.. DAMMIT I WANTED TO LLIIVVVE!!! Say something like "you and the ol' dingo/silver fox aka casavir or person live together
yeah, the narrator is the WORST VOICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... when i first finished the game the ending shocked me because it was SO depressing...and they had REALLY good voices in the game so WHY oh WHY! did they use this horrible actor?!...sigh.... some people NEVER learn...
The narrator was horrible. Should have used the fellow who did Casavir's voice. The ending was fine but Mask was terrible. Im sorry but if you just bonded with all those companions, not to mention some of us had a romantic storyline, would you just wake up and say ok to helping all these new people? Hell no you would probably ask for directions to CK and go off with a wave and a thanks, at the very least to find the one you love.
yes MOTB was a total slap in the face, it offered no satifdactory conclusion just "all your friends are dead* and you dissappear down your own path"- a complete waste of time.
*except for kelgar and neeshka- and maybe some others, but a shit ending all in all.
I just finished the game and watched this same ending. After going through all the trouble to build your character relations with friends-and we get this shit ending? Pretty pathetic to leave it like this. The very least devs could have done is have one of the voice actors of the NPCs perform the dialogue at the end. I'm not even sure I care to try the expansions after this this...this and I think Act III was kind of weak, compared to the rest. NWN2 starts really strong, but dwindles.
c'mon guys, stop bashing the game's ending! if you do not know what the endings are like, do not bash 'em.
according to the way you play, there are different endings and i've seen A WHOLE LOT of variations on how it may end. like, what you've done for that, causes one picture and the story for it, another act of yours causes another picture. making all animated vids for all those variations would be impossible, so please, stop flaming the game.
It's like a Baldur's Gate 1 dia show. Typically BioWare & Co.! -- In 2001, Blizzard's great and brilliant "Diablo II/ Lord of Destruction" Cinematics were much, much, much better.
What a shit ending. SO fucking disapointing. All that game time.. to be DISAPOINTED!!!! DAMNIT! Loved the game, hated the ending. What's with that guys voice aswell? For GODS sake. Pft. Great game though...
I agree. The ending was a flop. I did all that, and then I wondered how they could possibly make such an awful ending. That dude speaking sounds like he works as a coder. LOL They didn't even want to pay to hire a really good voice. LOL Sad. It's not like the Baldur's Gate I & II days. They actually paid to make games masterpieces. Sad these days. Games just aren't what they use to be in my opinion. I'm thirty-seven. Seen it all since my first computer at nine years old. lol
Man where did they get the voice actor from? The most monotone sounding, it's like he's reading a boring news report on tv. I got the evil ending which was retarded because I also killed Axle, but in the final cinematic it says Axle controls most of the city??? This game was good but there were just so many plot holes and broken storylines.
actually, the original ending had daeghan speaking those lines. for reasons i don't know about, his voice was replaced by this guy. presumably this is one of the devs or producers at obsidian.
Really? I haven't beaten the game yet, so I had just assumed that the poster of this video did a voice over to read the ending text. That's how bad it is.
When I beat the game I was going: "YEAH! awright! time to go home for ale, wenches and celebration, old Lord Nasher is gonna owe me BIG for this, woo hoo!"
....then the roof fell and everyone went bye-bye to parts unknown, probably under tonns of rock.
I swear you could hear my jaw hit the floor as I went WHAAAAAAAA?!?!???? no way....
Seemed like such a lackluster way to end it you know? After everything you went through, not to mention everything you had to bludgeon to get there, they end it all by having you getting hit by a falling roof?
As a DM I know for a fact if I ran my group through a D&D champaign that awesome and then ended it like THAT, I would not leave the room without extensive physical injury.
Whoops, replied to the wrong person. Bishop is in Mask of the Betrayer, too, albeit as a spirit trapped inside the Wall of the Faithless.
And when I got to that part I was so happy to see Jerro. Unfortunately by that point you and your new companions have outleveled him so much that he's pretty much worthless in a fight, and he doesn't stick around. I wish he had, though, despite only being level 20.
the expansion is great but I just wish I could meet again all my companions from OC, and walk again in the very city of neverwinter. Man now I miss that city again :)
Steam: You have played 37 hours.
I want my 37 hours back. Right now.

While a decent game, this only reminds me more of how perfect the Baldur's Gate series was when it came to narrative and cinematic storytelling.

i cant even begin to play baldurs gate cause it has so fucking boring grafic its like gothic 2 really bothering dunno how could you play that

@GoznerPeter
Well, cuz it´s an amazing RPG with an epic storyline, and content.
Your generation are too fixated (spoiled) on 3D-graphs then gameplay and a good storyline, and you are clearly not a hardcore rpg-fan.

I dont care how big and bad the stoyline is I will never play that shit
