I've heard from people who have worked on the west coast that walking the cup is not a technique used very much out there. Is this true? I'm from SC and everyone i have ever known walks the cup. (been a pipe welder for 36 years)
and explain a little more. "keep the tungston just above your material" ok well for some that doesnt know, tell them how far and why. about 1/8" and the longer the arc the more power it takes, the hotter the weld, and more unstable arc. its not just "that easy" yea you can lay a bead easily but for that bead to be strong, consistent, good penetration, and not brittle(too hot) it takes a little more knowledge. do some more research first. im not talking shit either. check weldingtipsandtrickscom
stop turning the music up for 1, clean your material better, the sparking and metal blowing off is poor cleaning. you do need to worry about torch angle for gas coverage. too much angle = not enough gas flowing backwards on the still hot weld. @ 2:03, your way too hot, puddle way too wide, turn down your amps and speed up a little. and you do need to worry about how often to dip the wire for a consistent and also stronger weld. learn a little more before teaching.
