I think this is amazing; I think spiders are amazing creatures despite their reputation. If I gave an average person an unlimited amount of weblike material and told him to construct to scale a human-sized web, chances are, he could not do it. The amount of math and calculation involved, the architectural skills needed to achieve the geometry - most people just would not be able to pull it off, and yet every web building spider does this solely on instinct. Tell me this is not incredible.
In 1973 Houston running thru the forest I ran right into a web not as big as this but a extremely large one with the "Biggest Spider" I have ever seen...! and i stopped running just 1" from him or her !,it was all i could do to stop !,after I went back and told everybody what I had seen a "Big as your Fist Spider"!!!! in the woods with a very large web !!!!! and guess what nobody believed "Me"!!!!! "MY QUESTION IS WHAT KIND OF SPIDER WAS IT" ?
@robbypjr I think I know the kind of spider you're talking about, the same thing happened to my dad a few years ago, it's called an "imaginaracitus spider".
Hopin' they stay...? How many eggs in a spiders nest? A thousand?... A thousand spiders having a thousand spiders having a thousand spiders.... Oh yeah, we have a Spielberg movie...
@Justicar333 dude no thats a horrible idea! Dont you know the radiation would only cause the spiders to GROW?! lol but honestly dont kill them.... i like spiders. Spiders are awesome
There's sections of woodland in England jus now that look jus like that but it's thousands of caterpillars. Think it's the beasties takin over the planet. They're tryin 2 catch us all in the web
well considering how many acres there all the web is i am sure its nothing to the sight that exists to my backyard where there is a colony of cyrtophora citricolous. The web is now more that 2 metres high and 1 metre wide. Most are females and during the summer the network will extend all over the tree next to the nest and the bush /fence above it . I guess inthe summer the network of nests will be about 4 metres and 2 metres wide covering all the lemon tree
can you picture walking under that then all the spiders start coming down on you or like maybe there is not a bunch of little spiders but just one huge spider (O_O)
I saw that in texas. It was amazing. I put videos and photos of it on my pages and later it seemed people heard of it and found my pages. I kinda did it for fun but, I guess it got huge *grin* punn intended
Yeah, actually I think the term is from spiders that would build webs among fields of corn. So that was generally where some farmers back in the day would see them, so that's how cobwebs got their name, from the webs spiders would attach to the corncobs for an anchor.
Spiders do get trap in their own web just as easy as the fly,but they are in their own home they know their way around the web they spun, there are many type of silk the spider produces, the sticky kind to trap prey and the non sticky kind (safe thread ),and this is used to a strong support to the spokes of the web,the spider doese know which is which, they have the most amazing sense of touch, they know how to avoid the sticky web..
spiders can eat their own net, they can dissolve it in their mouth. so unless they get dramatically entangled, if only one of their legs sticks to one of the sticky strings or something like that, then the spider can easily fix the problem by eating it.
that's is enough line to if it was on a fishing reel here to earth to the 2nd galixey... if it dident stick, plus wow save me the webs ha ha to bad i cant plaster all that tangled mess................................
they were here before you.. and if they really wanted to.. they'd eat your ungrateful self if they wanted to, you get along with them they get along wiht you, just remember who keeps the bug population on earth in check :D :)
I initially thought it was a banana spider, but it's definitely not, whatever it is. Every organism is just trying to adapt to these changing times I reckon
That's funny.. I noticed a couple of weeks ago there was this exact spider building a web in my backyard, there's only 2 of these now and many many black widows still.. but they eat other bugs. The spiders that drop down from the trees at night are HUGE! I used to walk around on the phone at night through webs, until I brought a flashlight one night O_O
i really hate spiders! once i was in the bath tub and i saw one crawling roight beside me so i took off and ran to my dad and got the shivers! (NOTE: BE CAREFUL!
if you were really arachnophobic you wouldn't have searched for spider vids. you just have an exagerated form of the common revulsion that most people feel towards things that have more than four legs.
I believe you are incorrect. As for me, I don't mind insects, but have an irrational, huge fear of spiders IRL - however, I think they are very fascinating, and love reading about them and watching them online
holy shit dude...i had that yellow and black spider on my front door one day. they make a distinct zig zag on their web. shit...dont want that to happen to my trees...they get big...there are 3 types of it. 2 are small, the 3rd gets HUGE
well considering that most people in Texas own guns and huge trucks, I don't think we have anything to worry about in that respect, if you get my drift. xD
They are "Social Spider" One of the only known spiders to live in "Colonies". However, the spider in the middle of the video is the Black and Yellow Argiope Spider (Argiope Aurantia).
I just know that the black and yellow argiope can spin very strong, elegant webs and can tackle a grasshopper equal to its size with no problem whatsoever.
God, will you shut the fuck up? I swear, I cant see 1 video on youtube without seeing an idiotic comment from some junior high kid (or at least with the brain of one). Seriously, look at your comment and try to tell me what your point was in writing that. You child!
that's incredible. even the little spiders in my back yard amaze me, that they can have a strand of web go from one branch, to a plant 6 feet away with nothing inbetween
My dad asked me if I wanted to go see those webs one day and I was like 'HELL NAW! I don't want to get attacked by spiders! After I watched 8 legged freaks I was scarred!for life!' >:O
