As a lifetime Steeler fan I can tell u that the huge majority of Steeler fans LOVE Butkus. I hate to deside between Butkus and Lambert. Kind of reminds me of deciding between God and Jesus. Funny story, his son Johnny plays hockey with my brother. Jack was watching in his usual spot when some doucher from allegheny kept standing in front of him....Jack asked him nicely to move like three or four times and the guy got pissed and asked him if he'd like to step outside. Fortunately for that guy one of his buddies informed him that he was talking to Jack Lambert so the guy went to the complete opposite end of the rink and didn't even look in his direction again. It was classic.

Jack was a hardass and a big bad motherfucker on the grass. He's my favorite linebacker of all time. Though I'm a new generation Steelers fan, Jack is my favorite player next to Terry Bradshaw and Mean Joe Greene. BTW, this footage is awesome! Loved how he grabbed Harris of Dallas and THREW him to the ground. Jack would be proud of this video. And I LOVE AC/DC!

LT's best year was 1986 he had a total of 120 tackles. singles& assists. 1978 jack had 125 solos and 59 assists = 184 total!!! (team of the decade page 92) . most teams today, the players are at 110 to 120 total tackles. nobody is playing with the intensity for 4 qrts like jack did. big hits now and then sure there's some out there like that but for keeping it at a crazy maniac level.....even butkis ran out of gas 3rd qrt......LT??!!! give me a fuckin break................

i own a trucking company. i had the harry m stevens contract. we delivered the food, drinks. junk food to the stadiums in the tri-state area ny,nj pa. at giants stadium while they unloaded the tractor trailers i got to go into the backrooms where the public nevers goes and talk to the inside workers. parcels gave up on LT cause he couldn't remember the def. sets at all . just stunt where ever you can is what he told him. so blitzed was he!! LT would have never had the credit he got if he played for the Seattle Seahawks of Detroit Lions his whole career. He was great...one of the best ever...but he was also all hyped up on drugs both before and during games. Jack was simply the baddest MFer to ever play the game!

criss collingsworth came to bengals in 81 and one of his early games was against the steelers. he goes across the middle for a pass and jack just explodes on him and while he's laying there jacks yelling at him " if you come across again i'm gonna put you out of the game" criss was totally amazed that jack even knew what his name was,...while he layed there trying to find his feet.............never gonna be another!!!

this is for ERNGRE ,i realize you're all pumped cause the teams doing good and all, but lambert never played outside, the outside guys were ham,russel and when andy retired loren toews, also robin coles, usually they switched back and forth, toews was better at the pass, robin was a run blocker. jack liked the middle he said "i can get to the quarterback from the middle much faster than from the outside"

I could watch this shit all day long. Jack Lambert was the all time best at out side line backer ever. Hell he scared the hell out of his own team mates before the game. Everyone stayed away from him. He would pump himself up into a state of a frenzied crazy man. Boy I loved those games. Never a dull moment.

Funny story, his son Johnny plays hockey with my brother. Jack was watching in his usual spot when some doucher from allegheny kept standing in front of him....Jack asked him nicely to move like three or four times and the guy got pissed and asked him if he'd like to step outside. Fortunately for that guy one of his buddies informed him that he was talking to Jack Lambert so the guy went to the complete opposite end of the rink and didn't even look in his direction again. It was classic.
