He gets away with just 2 riffs that are pretty much the same, a spoken line and the most obvious almost-drum beat you can have... so THAT is what I call a good riff!!!
Sitting on a chair, no bright-coloured flashing moving lights, no "hero" pose, no intro, no keyboard filler... Wouldn't it be great to call Dream Theater and tell them we have a guy that could teach them some very important stuff about music and such? :P
who gives a shit about whats been claimed 'bout him. what his politics are . when he sings and plays non of that bullshit matters. i wish i had a tenth of his genius or talent.
There's no doubt he is a wonderful, and natural musician and the MUSIC itself sounds genuine no doubt. But the reality behind what is being claimed about him, I'm not so sure.

hmmm - something about Seasick Steve doesn't hold water for me. Most of this backstory sounds like some sort of cartoon version of bluesman story. Here's my problem A man of that age who looks like that, has at least eaten well for most of his life. He also is quite obviously much smarter than he is pretending to be. To me he looks self conscious whenever being interviewed about his 'history'
if you were homeless for years it wouldn't be your favourite subject. he had a heart attack quite young due to his "lifestyle" on the street, real enough for you?
@nessiebreath What does intelligence have to do with lifestyle, he could be homeless and smart! And maybe he looks self conscious whenever being interviewed about his history because he is more modest and less self important than you obviously are.
I saw Steve at Glastonbury [2008] and most people around me had never heard of him. Halfway through the 2nd song the whole crowd was tapping their feet and clapping. Seasick is fucking brilliant! Such a down to earth guy!
he has a track that sounds like roadhouse blues! not too fucking shabby mate! who gives a fuck where hes from!! who does better these days! he can play like hendrix in his own special way! better than all the samey shitey bands these days! apart from baby lemonade, oh check tinariwen out!! they are like the rolling stones+ the clash and the desert together!! seen them?!! they are even better than seasick steve!! can you dig it?!!
And if you like Tinariwen you should check out Abdullah Ibrahim, Ali Farka Toure.. Definately Ali Farka Toure man! An always, always be checkin out Ry Cooder the man is the desert himself!! Trust me man. His guitar blows the warm winds round my head an i feel the sand beneath my feet, check it out.. Ry Cooder.
Funny thing- He's got that Southern accent-- but he's West Coast. Bugs the shit outta me, being from The South. He can sure jam, tho'! Not bad for one of them Cali-foreigns.
Excellent! It is from this kind of Delta Blues that early British Rock bands were spawned - Type in: *Free Mr Big* into you tube and you will see where the early 70's rock bands took blues to. I loved the bands back then. That is Paul Rodgers signing and Andy was 15 when he joined as the bass player. Paul Kossoff on guitar. RIP - he was ace. They toured with Zep when they were 17
