@mrjj022 It's a bit weird at first, but all of the creatures in this game that are either summons or the fal'cie, most of which are based off of older game's summons, have that "crystal powers mechanical" theme. I think it works pretty well, but mostly because of how gorgeous the designs are and the fact the they are regarded as no less magical and powerful than they are in other games. It's just how the universe of FFXIII sees them.

I don't understand why people are hating these summons just because they're mechanical. The story is set in the future, its pretty obvious that the summons would also be futuristic. Omega weapon was typically a mechanical boss, but I didn't see anyone complain when it became an organic boss :(

XIII has my favorite combat system. So fast and fluid, I at first was a little irked I couldn't control the other two, but then it was just like XII's gambit system (roughly) so I got used to it. I"m still kinda on the fence about the summons. I'm ok with them transforming. It's kind of like an extension of the character's abilities. The shiva-motorcycle thing is the only one that kind of threw me for a loop. I do wish as well that they were more powerful tho

This is what I think:

XII is probably my favorite game in the series so far. I enjoyed the summons because they all had a backstory to them that fit into the universe (Ivalice always had such a brilliantly fleshed out story(( i.e. Tactics)). Plus, you could go back and grind whenever you want and hunting contracts was fun as hell.

I wish you could combine the summons of XII with the control you had in X because THAT was awesome

XII had the worst summons in my opinion. But XIII isn't much better. I don't mind the transformers aspect....but these summons hardly do any damage! Whatever happened to summoning a badass Esper/Eidolon/Aeon/Guardian Force/Whatever to completely DESTROY a monster or fiend? I barely used the summons in XIII cause there was no point to it, unless I needed healing.

@Luciscaleum Excuse u! This is because the cahracters level's are low.. So the damage is low as well! My summons are well damaged which can extend as high as 5000 per damage (Not staggered) It'll be a lot and I mean a LOT stronger f the enemy is staggered! My strongest Eidolon is Alexander which his atk is 4500 and his mag is 4000

Hope is better than Vannile actually. Vannile has slightly more HP, which can be taken care of with some gold bangles or something, she has a higher strength stat too but that doesn't matter, they are mages MAGIC is important, and when it COMES to the magic stat Hope's is higher!

Either way, my characters at that point in the game where fully Crystogened out...however you want to term it...so weak or strong, SquareEnix took a step to evolve the game and to some, they failed. I don't need insane numbers to enjoy a game.

Hell, look at Chrono Trigger. 999HP. Max. A strike that hit for 500HP had people shitting bricks back then.

@Veiados if you were playing in chapter 11, you might have been fighting enemies you werent really intended to until after story completion. my bahamut would have nearly destroyed almost any unimportant monster, especially considering bahamut has probably the strongest final move of all eidolons. but eidolons to me after the end of the game are only useful if you are about to die just so you could get your party back full health.
