  • I gladly accept the invitation. Because I don't know anywhere else I could so easily forget myself and finally rest...after endless days/nights of insomnia, oh to rest in Rufus sweet arms tonight. Where are you, when I need you?

And by the way, responding to other posts, isn't it enough he creates and performs these songs that match Schubert? Who cares what he wears, his hair, how petty.

  • I can't understand him....but I know one thing....ME LIKEY! :)

  • Who say's he's scruffy ? how bout 'natural ' ? Why does everything have to be tamed and manicured by some narrowminded moron ?

PS... finally, an artist not 'owned' by hollywood, Ahhhhhhh

  • This is one of his best songs, and the simplicity is part of its greatness. It's good to get away from some of his more elaborate stuff every once in awhile and just listen to one of his earlier songs.

  • beautiful

  • Brilliant cover, better than the album version, easy.

Personally, in point of style (clothes and hair and such), I much prefer his simpler, earlier look to his current kitschy-fabulous thing. But that's a minor point. The music's the thing.

  • have someone tabs or sheet music to this song?

  • Check out Ritchie Nevada - Someday

  • i bet you listen to kanye west

  • OMG.

  • his beauty is hurting me in this video

    s0o0 much pretty!! i can't function!!!

  • So amazing! This song is one of the most beautiful and moving songs I've ever heard.

  • This is an interesting vid. thanks. I appreciate seeing Rufus in what must have been his 'drunk and wearing flip-flops on Fifth Ave.' period. But thankfully those demons hadn't a chance against such a singular creativity and talent. I enjoy the music he has written since all the more knowing what we could have lost and dedicate it to those who didn't survive

  • This song is gorgeous, he sings it and plays it very well and I see no reason to split hairs

  • He's detuned his guitar, but it's also slightly out of tune - so you're both right.

  • He could do this acapella and i would still be beautiful,, great song and performance & performer

  • stupid comment

  • You must be tone deaf.

  • Actually that comment isn't that stupid, just direct. I have to say that i'm a big Rufus fan and hate these videos of his meth time (yrs. 2000-2002). but this guitar is out of tune, no doubt. and even the owner of this video noticed that he looks scruffy and a little fucked. so common.

or this comment was just ironic and dumb than excuse me.

whatever all these stupid comments say, great song.

  • Gee, his guitar is SO out of tune! I can't believe it. It's almost surreal.

  • no its not, you bumbaclot, its just a different tuning. hes a musical genius, he wouldnt perform with a guitar that is "SO out of tune!"

  • hm, bumbaclot sounds nice. What might that be?

  • its a jamaican word. i think it is the equivalent of fool.

  • Seems we have a real Wainwright dogmatist/fanatic here...

  • absolutely my whiskery friend

  • Do you know this youtube video in which he asks his sister Martha for help to get his guitar into tune? I'll post the url if I find it again...

  • well its one thing if he does that during a live performance, but its highly unlikely on a TV broadcast.

  • Well a TV broadcast is kind of a live performance too, isn't it.

But I definitely agree with you that he is a musical genius. No doubt.

  • lol bumbaclot

  • oh, he's just so great, I love him!

  • i really love this song. what was this recorded for?

  • this is beautiful

  • This is the song my wife & I wanted to dance to at our wedding, but it was too long. So we went with "Over the Rainbow" as performed by Eva Cassidy. I love this song and I do a pretty good cover version with my band.

  • nope. sounds great.

  • My fave rufus song until want1 and 2 came out, got to say I do miss the backing vocals, also his guitar sounds a little out of tune, still amazing though. thanks for posting this, so happy to hear it live.

  • Awesome!

  • PAw abusé ! merci pour la video l'ami !

    Thanks

  • Thank you for posting this! It's an amazing performance - I thought I would miss the backup singing, but the song works without it and really showcases his singing.

Is it just me or is this in a slower tempo than the track on the album?
