Nice interview, Sandra - in the 3 1/2 minutes you get at these movie press junkets. Fantastic casting for this movie, and really well directed. Emily and Rupert are perfect with a supporting cast from this huge cache of outstanding Brit actors: Harriet Walter, Miranda Richardson, Mark Strong, etc. The scene where the Physician finally leaves the injured Albert, and Victoria apologizes for being so stubborn....keep the kleenex handy.

i love his superb acting talent too.....emily blunt is nominated for best actress at the GOLDEN GLOBES but no other actors have nominations unfortunately and none of them are up for the Oscars. the film has oscar nominations for set design, costumes, etc.

thanks for the support. the handsome rupert friend looks dashing in a suit but as a malevolent Nazi officer in THE BOY WITH THE STRIPED PAJAMAS... but it proves his versatility as an actor even if the latter movie is a tear jerker to rip out your heart.

I am of jugoslavian german descent on my father's side and not even being directly from Germany I have a hard time understanding how a nation even when it had been in economic depression can allow a leader to build and run concentration camps so this film helps me do that a bit

I this the entire NAZI nightmare in germany was partly the result of the Kaiser abdicating at the end of WWI and all the royalty being dumped instead of just the war criminals replaced.....Germany was so immersed in royalty that the sudden break was unhealthy and resulted in an uneducated emotionally depressed man like Hitler taking power

I think it's got to do with what you grew up hearing. For example, I'm Canadian and obviously the way she spoke sounded fine to me. But the way both Emily and Rupert said "Alberta" made me laugh, because that's not how any Canadian would pronounce it. No matter where you're from, someone's always going to make fun of the way you speak, and think the way you pronounce words is "wrong". That doesn't however make that the truth. And lets be honest, Canadian accents are a lot better than American.

Alberta is actually named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta. She was one of Queen Victoria's and Albert's daughters and the province is officially named after her but she obviously gets her middle name from her father so in an indirect way it is named after Albert. :)

A small remark: Has anyone noticed that Rupert Friend looks a bit like Orlando Bloom, he could be his brother. In Pride & Prejudice I first thought it was Orlando. Keira played with both of them and now knowing that Rupert is her boyfriend.

In this interview he looks different, probably with a different hairstyle, make-up and filmed from a specific angle he looks more like him than you see here.
